Basic courtesy to read through a post before sending. The odd typo or auto'correct' doesn't bother me much but some garbled and incoherent posts are very difficult to understand. The point of communicating is that your reader understands your post.

I think I should be banned!

Don't forget jollyg some posters are dyslexic, therefore things are not always as they should be. I am a pedant but restrict this to talking with others of the same ilk. Don't be too hard on people otherwise GN will be vanilla.

Yes you are. I find some of the typos on here to be very funny and anything inoffensive is worth a good laugh. Give me enough time to remember some of them and I will give you a list. The auto- correct feature has a lot to answer for!

Also, with people viewing their posts on tiny phone screens or tablets with hand cream streaked on the screen sometimes without putting their specs on ... mistakes will happen and/or autocorrect amendments will be overlooked.

Aiming for an error-free forum is a losing game

Often, tho, there'll be a correction post just moments after the one with the mistake(s).
Clearly the person has read through their post straight after it has been irrevocably posted.
Why not just press the Preview button and read through then, before taking that final step?

I used to preview my posts before sending but the page now seems to freeze on preview. I can sometimes retrieve it by going back to the previous page then going forward again IYSWIM but often the post is lost.

Can't be bothered to preview any more.

As far as I am concerned typos (or surreal prediction) have a habit of hiding when I check through what I have written - and yes I (usually) preview- and then in the nanosecond before pressing "post message" they rush out of where they were hiding and resume their position or else half the words automatically translate themselves into Klingon. ?

Perhaps we should have our posts checked by those who have sod else to do than find fault with spelling and grammer on other posts

I was educated at the time when it was decided that knowledge of punctuation and sentence structure (beyond the basics) wasn't necessary. So my grasp of colons, semi-colons, phrasing and the niceties gf grammar is somewhat limited. It was deemed to be more important to get your ideas down on paper...to let your imagination rule when writing stories and organise your discussion/arguments when writing non-fiction.

I still write that way so sorry if it offends anyone but it's the way I write and I'm too old to change now.

And I hate apostrophes esp. in it's/its.
