This is a 'tongue in cheek' post but it has a serious note too. I have just opened up my email from Gransnet and at the top was an advertisement to encourage people in to Teaching. As I am still waiting for my State Pension, I thought I would express interest to see if they would take on a 64 year old, especially as we are being told that we should be working well beyond 60.
After ticking the boxes it appears that I don't qualify because I haven't got a Degree, which is a little bizarre because I taught for 39 years and was promoted to Leadership level even though I only had a Certificate of Education (totally acceptable in the early 70s.)
Isn't about time the powers that be decided exactly what they want from our generation?
