I’ve only watched the first two episodes of this latest series. It certainly is shocking, and so sad. The thought that institutions like this exist is very worrying.

Such a harrowing watch. Superb acting from all cast. We know these institutions exist and know most of the inmates are there for a reason but to actually see and hear the reality was quite a shock. Such violence and menace is luckily quite alien in my everyday experience.

Without hopefully giving away any spoilers I would have liked more of a back story about one of the characters.

I watched it too. Had to switch it off 3/4 of the way through the first part . It was upsetting and I was terrified. I rewatched the whole 3 episodes the next day , I'm still thinking about it . Sad and shocking. David Tennant and the boy who played Chris will be up for awards, I'm sure .

It's really good, isn't it? I found it harrowing, & I don't often watch something that actually draws me in like that.
Only watched the latest, will definitely "catch up".

We are watching it and, like everybody else, we think the acting is excellent. We especially thought the black guy with the stammer was brilliant.

The acting is superb, but I’m finding it difficult to watch - both harrowing and riveting is right, foxie48. Jimmy McGovern is a great writer.

Luckygirl3 Tue 13-Oct-26 15:15:57

I've watched all three. Brilliant acting. David Tennant is so good.

Snow leap arts is my iPad scrambling something when I’m too tired to double check before I press post grin! It’s an award winning documentary about snow leopards that’s on utube; another Cannes winner that never got widespread recognition. I have to admit that I sometimes post things as a way of keeping a record of something I might forget by the next day. But it doesn’t work when my iPad scrambles it into something else. While I’m about it I’ll add My Life as a Turkey and Touching the Wild ( also on utube). I did fall asleep before watching the snow leopard one, though…I often have to watch something totally different to clear my head when I’ve watched something like Time.

What’s snow leap art Maybee ?
I have recorded Time so pleased to hear good reviews.

MayBee70 Tue 13-Oct-26 14:23:04

What’s sad is that nothing has changed since the first series was made; in fact it’s got worse sad.

MollyNew Tue 13-Oct-26 14:02:54

Even though I am a big fan of David Tennant, I won't be watching this as it's too close to my working life. I've always said that anyone who thinks prison is like a holiday camp has never set foot inside one.

foxie48 Tue 13-Oct-26 09:28:39

It's on my list to watch. I saw both of the previous series and found them both harrowing and riveting. The first one was a particularly difficult watch but the superb acting and atmosphere in the prison was compelling.

I hadn’t realised Siobhan had been in all three series; I can remember thinking how good the first two were. May have to rewatch them. A minor detail but it was pointed out on Must Watch how nice it is for David Tennant to be able to speak with his Scottish accent. Good as he is when not doing so it’s so much better for an actor to concentrate totally on the role and not the accent.

Just watched the whole series, and it is superb. The acting from everyone is just mind=blowing, totally believable. David Tennant deserves a Bafta, such a wonderful thought-provoking interpretation of the role.
It is very grim viewing, and makes you think twice about these young offenders institutes. You really felt for the young people locked up with no real access to anything to break the monotony.
By far the best drama I have seen this year, well done BBC, and of course, Jimmy Mcgovern.

MayBee70 Tue 13-Oct-26 01:21:03

Crikey. I’m now going to watch a recommended documentary on utube called The Velvet Queen ( about snow leap arts with music by Nick Cave) as I need to decompress…I’m drained…

Totally gripping and the hour passes in a flash. Superb acting and thought provoking complex themes. All credit to the people who work in institutions like these

MayBee70 Mon 12-Oct-26 21:45:30

I had to rewatch the first one as I was confused about the relationships between the young offenders. ( I always get confused watching things anyway).Going to watch the rest in a minute. From the minute it started last night I was gripped by it.

Doodledog Mon 12-Oct-26 21:12:11

I binged it all.

It is such a good series - all of the stories have been difficult but important, I think. I don't know how people see prison as 'holiday camps'. The very thought of going to jail fills me with dread.

rafichagran Mon 12-Oct-26 21:02:15

I have watched the first one snd will watch the second tonight. Its harrowing, and the noise in the prison was unbearable.
I find it depressing but will continue to watch it.

Tenko Mon 12-Oct-26 20:48:38

Time is on my list . I’ve watched the first one with Sean Bean and Stephen Graham.
I didn’t watch the second one . Set in a women’s prison.
The reviews have all been good , especially for the young actors playing the young offenders.

MayBee70 Mon 12-Oct-26 18:10:55

Yet another excellent series about prison life. The standard of acting is off the scale. I’m going to have to binge watch all three episodes, harrowing as it may be.
