New thread.

Why does nobody seem to notice Ross's appalling wig? You'd think Steve or Kirk would have made a tactless remark about it.

Calendargirl Tue 28-Jul-26 06:48:05

Jodie seems to have a new hairdo, with a sort of fringe.

Looks odd.

How many more times will she be told to ‘get out, never darken our door again’ only to be allowed back five minutes later?

Where is Ross, Ty’s dad, actually living? Is he still at the Chariot Square Hotel? He obviously either bribed or blackmailed that woman into what she said about him.

Harper looks remarkably well after her lengthy stay in hospital, and life changing operation.

I honestly don’t know why they felt the need to have David and Shona with a new baby, think they have more than enough offspring to cope with, Lily and ‘Max In Prison Who Is Never Mentioned’.

It is on at 8.30 pm. I only saw it because I was looking online for a specific programme. There is little else on for me.

It looks like Corrie is on this Sunday. 7.30pm or 8.30pm - can't remember.

Thanks - I would have missed it.

And Jenny had to sell the Rovers because it wasn't making enough money.

Yes, it seems to have picked up in its fortunes since the new lot took over, which is bucking the trend, particularly given the 'domestic difficulties' thy've had on their plates, what with Maggie's murder of her husband coming to light, her affair with Jim McDonald being exposed (so it was), and Will being involved in a sex abuse case.

8.30 Devorgilla

I’ve just caught up with Friday's episode - seems the scriptwriters have just remembered Harper. No doubt she’ll soon join Frankeh, Alfie, the quads and the other kids at their 24 hour childcare room. Harry seems to have emerged from it now that Sarah’s not pretending to look after him.

After seeing the episodes about Betsy. I was shocked has I had never heard about such a thing. I did mention to my high school granddaughter and she said she had never heard of it. If it gets people discussing it then that’s a good thing. it’s scary what young people can see on the internet.

Aveline Sat 25-Jul-26 19:25:47

She's coming home next week. Pay attention*vegansrock*!

vegansrock Sat 25-Jul-26 19:19:03

Whenever is baby Harper going to come home? She never gets a mention these days. And what’s happened to Jodie’s treasure box? Is the gun in there?

Aveline Sat 25-Jul-26 18:05:48

Maggiemaybe Sat 25-Jul-26 17:28:27

I think they must slap a massive mark up on Betty’s famous hotpots. grin

Calendargirl Sat 25-Jul-26 10:34:08

Has been mentioned before, but no idea how the Rovers makes a living.

It has to keep Maggie, Eva, her DH whose name escapes me, Ollie, Will, Susie, then they employ Glenda, Sean, Gemma, Lauren….is that it?

Plus every other drink is ‘on the house’ for whatever latest catastrophe has affected one of the customers.

Andy Burnham’s help urgently needed, I think.

Bukkie Sat 25-Jul-26 09:48:02

I understand why Lauren is so defensive all the time, but she wasn't initially when she first came back into it. It's only since she started working in the pub she has become rude.

Aveline Fri 24-Jul-26 08:09:59

I agree

I don't understand why the character Lauren is so rude? I feel like I have missed the reason why, she certainly wouldn't keep her job in the real world. I understand her defending Betsy and attacking Dylan after Joel abused her. Frankie will be in the childcare cupboard where Harry has spent the first 10+ years of his life. It's only now Sarah is facing prison that she decides she has to look after him.

Life has been hard for Lauren. Can you remember her awful Dad and Joel? She has mentally put a protective wall around herself, especially where men are concerned. She won't let herself be treated like that again. That's why she seems sullen and brusque. Self preservation.

Aveline Thu 23-Jul-26 20:43:22

I think it's just her communication style.

I still find funny one liners scattered around. At present life's pretty serious down Coronation Street. You lot would be the first to complain if inappropriate light-heartedness appeared.
Betsy's story is interesting and worth highlighting. Theo's murder has gone on long enough. Less is more with Psycho Jodie.
Watch/don't watch it's up to you. I'm sticking with it.

Charleygirl5 Thu 23-Jul-26 19:23:21

I agree, none of the scriptwriters has a sense of humour. We need more one-liners as happened years ago. I agree, everything drags on for so long I get bored.

Where is Jodie? On a bus with a single ticket? I will happily pay.

Somebody will tell me she has been in the last few episodes.

Lisa is another who is rarely at work.

I wonder what will happen to Kit long-term?

Happygirl79 Thu 23-Jul-26 15:22:35

Why is it that the script writers are so poor ? Are they paid a pittance if at all? The stories are entirely about police stations, courts, hospitals and murders. It's getting tedious and they drag the story lines on for far too long. I'm feeling quite annoyed with myself for bothering to watch these days. Is it just me?

Calendargirl Thu 23-Jul-26 11:36:30

Yes Maggiemaybe, ‘Honesty really is the best policy’, or would be in Corrieworld.

Maggiemaybe Thu 23-Jul-26 10:28:42

Agreed on both characters, Calendargirl.

Lauren would never have kept a job with an attitude like hers. And haven’t any of the Corrie lot twigged yet that their lives would be so much easier if they just stopped covering everything up!?

Calendargirl Thu 23-Jul-26 06:50:09

Todd should never have pretended that parcel was his. I can see Chrissy has her eyes on his insurance money.

No idea when Lauren ever looks after Frankie herself, as she alternates between the pub and visiting Betsy in hospital.

Mouthing off all the time, she’s said her piece about Dylan and needs to keep quiet about it all now.

Very pretty girl, shame she always looks so mardy.
