Annoying celebs

I used to watch Susan Calman travelling around the UK in her camper van, Helen. Watching it now is becoming challenging as I find her so annoying, constant hysterical shrieks of deafening laughter or cackles at nothing, the people she interviews sometimes almost recoil in surprise..i don't know if she has a hearing problem but she shouts and talks so loud I constantly turn her down. She is exhausting.

I agree with most of the above, but (I'll get jumped on for this) I don't like David Attenborough 🫣, I find him a bit creepy.

Alexander Armstrong - who writes his jokes? They need to be sacked and does he have to keep saying thank you ‘very much’!

Gemma Collins, Michelle Freegan and her Towie husband, (always begging for freebies). Denise Welsh or is it Welch? Bradley Walsh and his annoying Nepo son..

I cannot dislike someone I do not know.

I do dislike some peoples public persona

Stephen Fry, Warwick Davies and Angela Rayner I struggle with, along with Elaine Paige and Paul McCartney.

I think I struggle with accents. Not too keen on Lorraine Kelly.

I can't stand his stupid laugh, but I've watched a few short videos of Jimmy Carr, and he comes across as very empathetic towards people's troubles.
So, i rather like him now.

Desdemona

Too many to mention.

It is time to go back to the drawing board and give new talent a chance instead of churning out the same tedious people.

Oh, how I agree.
And move them about. And please don’t let them be “hilarious” or spout out about politics!

And serial name dropping 'I was friends with the late Duke of Edinburgh, I spent last weekend with Judi Dench' Gyles Brandreth.

Kate1949 Sat 09-May-26 13:27:39

Oh yes Jimmy Carr and Jonathan Ross. Yuk.

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-26 13:16:10

I'm not keen on Stephen Fry.

To my mind, there is a big difference between saying that you find someone's personality trait(s) irritating or annoying, and saying that you hate that person.

It annoys or even upsets me when people say they can't abide someone for no good reason - I always want to jump to the defence of the disliked person- yet I could add a few names to the list myself, and really hate the shouty presenting and hysterical screechy laughter that many so-called celebrities do now. I also hate the fake faces that many must have spent a fortune on - to me, the artificial look is awful, and I can't help forming a negative opinion of them based on that alone!

That makes me a complete hypocrite, and I'm trying to work out why I feel like that.
Maybe a large part of it comes from my own insecurity and remembering how much it hurt me as a child to be shunned by people who didn't know me at all. Amongst other things, I remember a comment about the way I laughed, which certainly explains why I feel very defensive towards Elaine Paige.

Can anyone tell me why Robert Peston speaks the way he does?
One minute it’s a slow drawl as though he’s had one too many and then he suddenly speeds up before slooowing right down again.

Is there something wrong with him or is he just rubbish at reading the autocue?

Robert Peston has a speech impediment that he has had since childhood. That's why he speaks in that distinctive way

He claims he hasn't.
He says it is a natural idiosyncracy.

Alison Hammond because she's everywhere, even though she has very little talent or ability
Claudia Winkleman and her stupid fringe
Holly Willoughby fake, flakey and talentless
Stacey Solomon can't abide her screeching
Denise Welch too coarse and crude to be out in public let alone on national tv
Nadiya Hussain that "winning cake" she did on Bake Off was shocking and she's not stopped complaining about her unjustified 10 years of fame coming to an end
Amanda Holden shallow and utterly bereft of any talent or personality
Emma Thompson a patronising, self adoring luvvie who doesn't practice what she endlessly preaches

Jimmy Carr I think he's a creep
Simon Cowell dislike his sneering superiority towards others
Ant & Dec just sick of seeing them
Jonathan Ross something deeply unpleasant about him
Paul Merton such a boring "personality"
Russell Brand because he's confirmed my long held suspicion that he's an unwashed, loud mouthed predator who has only "discovered God" now that he's facing serious charges

I like Julian Clary. And Mary Berry.

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-26 12:33:35

I can't see the appeal of Brian Cox, i always turn over if he's on tv.

Allsorts Sat 09-May-26 12:28:31

Whilst I am thinking about it,
Denise Welch
Stacy Solomon
Claudia Winkleman
Alison Hammond, imagine her and Susan Calman doing a show together!
Paddy McGuiness
Robert Preston but i do think he talk the way he does as he must have a stutter but regardless can’t abide him.
Brian Cox i find creepy, my friend adores him though
I read Shelia Hancox book The Two of Us and was taken back at what a very high opinion of herself she has, referring to her beauty and lovely legs, really, think she talks a load of rubbish with her leftist views, she would not last a week without her wealth, another champagne socialist like Emma Thomson

Dylis Sat 09-May-26 12:27:18

Lulu and her habit of picking and choosing wether to use her Scottish accent or not.

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-26 12:13:41

Ah, thank you. smile

ferry23 Sat 09-May-26 12:11:41

Lovely to see you back MissAdventure smile

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-26 11:52:06

I don't like him either

ferry23 Sat 09-May-26 11:50:38

Paddy McGuiness - I usually turn the radio off when he's on but I did catch a bit of his show recently where he was talking about an "ers" - I thought he must be talking about funerals and meant a "hearse". But it just didn't make sense.

Turns out he was talking about a house. hmm

Ooh Winkelman.
Her with the fringe.
I don't like her at all!

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-26 11:24:51

Shr has a beautiful singing voice, too.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 09-May-26 08:14:39

Oh, MissAdventure, I'm with you on Stacey Solomon. I understand that she's a really nice person, but I cannot watch her, as her voice is like squeaky chalk on a blackboard for me - sorry, Ms Solomon!
