This is a heartening series and boy do we need it! However, it really saddens me to see how little is being offered to the young people in so many of our most deprived areas. Seeing the Preston team two years later IMO proved the value of working with youngsters and I have to admit I've felt really quite emotional at times during this series and also the previous two. Freddie is so good with these young people and they can be very testing but he seems able to build a rapport whilst building respect which is a rare talent.
The Mancunians are really struggling in this series. The cricket club has been abandoned for years and he can't get a team together, although the 16 year old with personal issues is trying hard to help Freddie make up the numbers.
The Liverpool lads playing the police was really interesting as they all hated the police before and once they met them had a much better opinion of the police.
