Thank you Kate1949 for this recommendation, I've just watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
What a hard worker Twiggy has always been!

Twiggy
(56 Posts)Did anyone else watch this documentary? What a beautiful woman and a fabulous life.
she used to model for M&S a few years ago, and she was still a lovely woman then...I must watch this..
Before she was famous Twiggy worked in a hairdressers in Bayswater and washed one of my teacher’s hair.
She is clearly so much more than just a pretty face.
I still wear a pair of Twiggy M&S black suede ankle boots and I haven't found any suitable replacements for when they finally wear out. She is such a talented woman and I really admire her.
I don’t remember her having a tv series or a singing career. She’s never lost her looks or her figure either. The only current artist that I think compares to her ( probably down to her current advertising profile) albeit not coming from such humble beginnings is Sophie Ellis Bextor who is just so wholesome and nice.
Yes I watched. A lovely lady.
Really enjoyed hearing about her life.
It was such an interesting and sometimes nostalgic programme. The secret of her success was that she had such a "can do" attitude. She'd never sung or acted before but she gave it a go instead of turning it down and the sky was the limit for her! Also so unpretentious unlike some of today's celebs.
Did she say anything about her agent, Justin de Villeneuve?
I was never sure whether Nigel Davies AKA Justin de Villeneuve
pimped her out or really did enable her to have opportunities she would not have had otherwise.
I found it a bit creepy that he was 10 years older and they started an affair when she was just turned 16.
I watched this last night on catch up and really enjoyed it. She was/is a natural beauty, very authentic and down to earth despite rising to very early success and mixing with the supposed "great and famous". Terrific work ethic and she deserved her many successes over the years. It shone through how she values her family life more than her public life.
She would have become famous even without Justin de Villeneuve. She was very young but over time she realised for herself she did not need him.
She's a bit older than me, when at secondary school everyone called me Twiggy cos I was tall and lanky, not so much now that im older. Anyway I agree with everyone that she was so talented and attractive. I.must look out the documentary

Loved Leigh Lawson - a quick Google reveals he is almost exactly the same age as DH and lived where he first worked. Bet he was a patient. See we are nearly related.
Probably that 6° of separation thing kitty. 😁
I thought she was iconic in the 60s and tried, without success, to emulate her style. Oh to have the ability to shop at Bus Stop, Biba and Ravel again. Glorious times and she is still amazing!
I enjoyed watching it, and it reminded me of all the 60's and when I was down in London and working there. She still looks so good and is her own woman , doing her own thing. Good for her.
People under estimated her because she was pretty and working class, their mistake! Twiggy was and still is very bright, hard working and talented. I loved the programme. It brought back so many memories of my teens.

Took me back to sitting at my dressing table painting on the lashes under the eye and the copious use of Rimmel or Miners eyeliner
A perfect example of someone grabbing an opportunity by the whatnots and running with it as fast as they can. Worked hard, reaped the benefits and still looks great.
Yes l saw the Twiggy interview and remember Miners, Rimmel and also Eyelure Products. It was top stuff.
I think Twiggy is a very genuine person and has lived an interesting life.
Thought Dustin Hoffman's comment about her having her sounding like of a trucker was very funny and true to some extent
And yet she has a nice singing voice.
I think it was Justin de Villeneuve who was really responsible for grabbing opportunities in the Sixties for Twiggy.
He was part of the London Wide boy. Fly Sixties Hairdresser/Fashion Clique and seemed to know all the right contacts.
Also interesting that Twiggy's father hailed from Bolton in Lancashire. Lancashire being the home of the English Love Goddess.
So Gransnet. Don't miss documentary.
It is FAB.

Just finished watching it, glad I did, love all those memories of her becoming such a style icon with her choir boy haircut, which would look just as good today as it did then, and her eyes, those eyes with the painted on under lashes, didn't so many of us try to copy that look? She was a pretty teenager, and became beautiful as she matured with age and certainly evolved into something more than just a clothes horse. I remember seeing The Boyfriend which launched her on another career path. She was standout at 16 in her own quirky, unique way but loved some of the other looks she developed further down the line, especially the archetypal Biba girl embodying that look so well, dark damson lipstick and smokey eyes. I loved going to that store, especially when it moved to the bigger one in Kensington High Street, well that was the only one I went to, but friends and I late teens would spend whole Saturday afternoons there, what treasure trove of amazing original styles. I can't think there's been anything quite like it since.
She's certainly had a very interesting life.
I lived in a Biba dress at one time. Black ankle length with buttons all down the front. If I could find one like it I’d still wear it.
I’ll look out for this on iplayer, thankyou. Reading the comments reminded me of the lovely little dog we got when Twiggy was all the rage.
I’d have been about 8 or 9 and I remember my mum bringing a little ball of reddish/brown fur into my bedroom at bedtime, to show me our new puppy.
She was very tiny, nothing like the rest of the litter and so we called her Twiggy.

I’ve spent hours trying to remember what made my dress special. It had a peplum ( I couldn’t remember what that was called). And a thick belt so the shape was really flattering.
Love Twiggy and the haircut/ clothes/ make up. My friend and I tried to copy her but my friend carried it off better than me. I like her hair now - wonder who colours it? What happened to Justin?
So glad I watched the Twiggy programme because I have always resented her and had no idea she is such a nice person. The resentment was all my own doing. I was the total opposite body type to Twiggy and she is just a bit older than me so by the time I got interested in fashion it was all catering to Twiggy shape. In my innocence I thought if I starved myself I could end up looking like her and wear all the fab clothes. Instead I ended up seriously ill and anorexic. No one ever pointed out my error and I mistakenly assumed Twiggy routinely starved herself. No way to find these things out before the internet. Of course its not her fault either that the fashion industry went overboard on clothes for tall, thin people. I feel better about her now.
I think I was borderline anorexic because I never felt I was thin enough and no matter how much weight I lost I still had fat legs. If only we’d known more about diet ( as in eating healthily) and exercise back then
. To me it was all down to trying not to eat and I’ve only recently, in my seventies, developed a healthy relationship with food.
I watched it on the recommendation of a friend. What an amazing woman. She looks as good now as she did in 1966. It was on BBC2 and Iplayer.
