Between the Covers.

Oh that’s a shame. I used to get some interesting book suggestions from that programme. The celebrity’s comments and the ensuing discussion was usually good. I used to enjoy Elizabeth Day’s book programme too.

I think my post was to point out how over blown Sara Cox's view of herself is. She also does not waste a chance to let people know where she came from and how genuine she is

By the way, l am also a real Lancastrian and still live here. And can trace my parents family roots back over 250 years. They all lived in Lancashire.

There is nothing wrong with Little Lever. It is a pleasant semi rural, village area near Bolton with farms and residential houses.

In fact the Blessed Sara's father did own a farm there.

As a full TV license payer for nearly fifty years. It is about time the BBC got rid of some of their presenters who have really milked them for all they are worth for decades

But not everyone listens to the radio. Having this programme on the TV opens it up a bit more.

To be honest, it always felt a bit like a filmed radio show. You really don’t need to see the faces of the contributors. There is a wealth of similar content on BBC Radio 4 and BBC podcasts.

It’s the fact it was about books!!!!! We get very few programmes about reading matter, just more and more games shows.
I’ll be writing about bringing the programme back, regardless of who presents it. I’m half Lancastrian by the way!!

That’s your opinion, but a lot of people like her and will miss her. That’s their prerogative and I can’t understand why you are picking them out just because you don’t like her.
There are a few people I’m not keen on but I can’t see the
point of listing them on here. No-one else cares who you like or dislike!

Why take umbrage about Sara Cox ? I dont think much of her !

I've been in a book group many years and when it's Between the Covers series on tv we always discuss the recent programme and usually pick a few from the series.

I like Sara Cox, especially her teatime programme on Radio 2.

What an unpleasant comment - totally unnecessary. What's wrong with Little Lever? Or Lancastrians? If you don't like the presenter, it's fine to say so bit why resort to snidy insults? You sound like a real snob.

I have just read that this BBC2 TV programme with Sara Cox has been axed. I have enjoyed every episode and gone on to read many of the titles discussed. Will any one else miss it?

Isn't it time she left the BBC for good?

For years the BBC had too many over paid presenter snouts in the trough.

Rapidly dwindling licence fees are forcing them into having mass culls of programs and presenters. Not before time. Some may say

The program itself was a bit smug but it did have some good Authors on and it did feature some good books.

So l will miss it.

A very enjoyable programme as if I don't gave enough books .
My friends all say that I have more than a public library and my nose is always in a book or I'm researching on Google.
This programme gave me food for thought and I'll miss it .

….and what’s with actors switching to hosting quiz shows. Tonight on BBC prime time, there is Rob Brydon - doing Destination X and on ITV The Fortune Hotel hosted b Stephen Mangan.
I suppose these could be described as “family viewing” (sort of ) an escape from all the crime dramas/documentaries perhaps 🤔
I know my daughter early teen kids got very into Traitors.
Not for me though🙄

Well, I suppose Rob Brydon is what you might call a Jack of all Trades, but good at all of them, multi-talented, although I'm not keen on his latest project.

Stephen Mangan is a multi-tasker too - he was even Postman Pat in the movie! 😁

It’s BBC2

Oh no! I hadn't heard that so I'm very sorry to get the news. I loved that programme on all levels - the interaction of the guests, the guests themselves who sometimes revealed quite a different side to themselves, the wonderful selection of books and the upbeat and entertaining Sara Cox. I shall miss it a lot, it certainly widened my reading horizons.

Tv has been dumbed down. It appeals to the lowest of intelligence.
