For fellow watchers - this is a very interesting article about the possibility of Gladys & the Duke's marriage being based on that of Consuelo Vanderbilt and the 9th Duke of Marlborough. It's rumoured that immediately after the wedding, the Duke told Consuelo he had only married her to save his ancestral home, Blenheim Palace.
