TV shows/dramas/series worth a look.

It's on the BBC I Player, but Cops is worth a look. It's one of those little remembered but good dramas from the nineties. The programme is about a disparate bunch of cops in a rough Northern town( a young liberal WPC, an old school hard man, a leching sergeant, a progressive superintendent and a young hothead) trying to deal with crime. The show can be very violent, full of bad language and sexual references, but probably quite true life of policing in 1998/99.

The Residence on Netflix is a whodunit with a difference. I am really enjoying it.

‘pernille’ on Netflix. Danish I believe and very easy watching. Just about the life of one woman and her friends and children The language is a bit off though.

I am watching Fake on ITV just now and really enjoying it. A woman meets a man on a dating website and thinks he is the one. But is he too good to be true? I have one episode to go and can't wait to see how it all pans out.

I have watched both series but did find series two a bit too dark ( and I do like dark comedies). My favourite comedy of recent years has been Channel 4’s The Change.

Such Brave Girls, anybody watched or watching this?
It is a dark comedy of sorts. It is one of the funniest things I have watched, but you have to be very broadminded to watch it. It is very rude, but compelling and so well written. The cast are superb, and I love the close relationship the sisters have. I totally loved it and am telling everyone about it, it deserves to be a success, as I believe it is anyway.

I don’t remember seeing Talking to a Stranger but I’ll watch it next week.

I found BBC4 repeating Stephen Poliakoff's wonderful Shooting The Past last night. I think it joins Talking To A Stranger and Wolf Hall as one of the best ever TV dramas.

Thanks for this. I still remember it from all those years ago and relish the chance to watch it again.

I loved it, too. I’ve always had a fascination with old photographs. It reminded me of a short film I’d seen on tv called The Shutter Falls which I always wanted to see again and I found it on utube recently. I often wondered if it inspired Poliakoff to write Shooting the Past.

Just watched 'The Gathering' on Netflix. I found it quite a good watch which highlighted a lot of issues. 6 episodes.

Discovered Normal People on BBC I Player.When I saw that it was a BBC 3 programme I nearly did not bother but I can't get enough of it.12 half hour episodes.

If you like something quite gritty I'd recommend these two, Long Bright River, Channel 4 and Under The Bridge ITVX. I've stuck with them, which is good for me I dump so many after a couple of episodes.

We give up on so many series after one episode, Suspicion and The Last Anniversary being the most recent.

But we’re currently enjoying the new Karen Pirie. That Val McDermid can always be relied on to spin a good yarn, and the cast is excellent.

I didn’t want Outrageous to end, but the good news is it looks set for a second series.

I found The Last Anniversary very good as it progressed, I did find it confusing at first because of the back and forth in time and trying to work out how the characters related to each other. By the time I had finished it I had enjoyed it so much I recommended it to my daughter-in-law.

Recently watched Untamed on Netflix, it’s set in Yosemite National Park so the scenery is beautiful but the storyline and characters are good too.

Followed that with The Loch set by Loch Ness an intriguing murder mystery with again stunning scenery.

We both loved Dept Q and recommended it to my DD she loved it so much she watched it all in one day!

Yes this was good, series starring Sam Neil usually are.

I recently watched two series of The Jury on Netflix, both very good especially series two with Julie Walters as the Defence barrister.

If you like gangster dramas che snout Underbelly on Prime. An Australian series. I'm throughly enjoying it. It's a bit different from American gangster series or films. A lot of it is based on true life too. It shows different eras too which makes it onteresting.Some of the episodes has brilliant music a mix of blue and rock. Kind of reminded me of Peaky Blinders music. Give it a try.😊

I couldn’t get into bookish but liked Ludwig.
Enjoyed Karen Pirie.

The Gilded Age is brilliant although you can’t binge watch series 3 as it’s one episode a week now ( drives us mad) Also teenage granddaughter has us watching The Summer I Turned Pretty, it’s set in America but it’s wonderful

Watched ‘Untamed’ on Netflix. Lovely scenery , but another’cop’’ with issues.

Finished ‘Yellowstone’. We found it compulsive watching , but very violent in places. There is a series 5, but not in the UK yet.

I am enjoying Bookish after a so- so first half hour.
Loved Ludvig and can’t wait for the next series
Very gentle but watchable is Whitstable Pearl.
Series 3 just on.

Anyone else watching Destination X on BBC1? Or The Veil on, I think, Channel 4? Both interesting in different ways. One definitely more relaxing than the other.

I like the idea of a Film Club that someone suggested - similar to a Book Club.
