It is a good thing as I've said above the Maggie Oliver Trust helps ALL sexual abuse victims.
Every little helps of course but the main issues organisations like that face is long term reliable funding. They have to pay ongoing costs especially employing professionals year on year.
Probably the best option for the "quiet donors" is direct debit payments which allow the organisation to continue.
Now, since I haven't seen the appeal, I am taking it on trust that if its the Maggie Oliver Trust then it is clear it is not money for a specific group of victims nor is is campaigning money "for another inquiry
ie, imposing a political agenda on the issue.

GB NEWS fund raiser for survivors of Grooming Gangs
(117 Posts)Just about 9pm tonight Patrick Christys launched a fundraiser after talking to Maggie Oliver who was a Detective and was a lone voice talking about these grooming gangs in 41 areas of the country.
In 1.75 hours he has raised £146,000 and every penny will go to the survivors via the Maggie Oliver Foundation.
I say well done to him and all the viewers and listeners who have donated. This fund raiser continues until Friday.

No, the right wing ones sitting at home feeling smug. Warming themselves on the embers of racism and hatred.
Enjoy. Perhaps Elon will pop a few quid in?
Are you against all charity fund raising?
Or are you just against this fund raising for the Maggie Oliver Foundation due to it being initiated by GB News?
I have never watched GB News so have no idea who Patrick Christy is but if he is raising money to help abused women in any way surely that’s a good thing.
Hopefully.

The quiet ones, out in force.
If it's the Maggie Oliver foundation the money is going to, its not cash payments its a counselling service which of course is valuable. there are of course other organisations
Important to be aware of the range of organisations who can help
Other organisations currently helping are
One in Four
The survivors trust
Safeline
SARSAS
Local Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (over the country
(Plus many local organisations)
Yes and every £5 helps with all these groups. but I hope that GB news isn't giving the impression that you can only get help if you are a survivor of a specific group of grooming gangs.
If the colour of the gangs is irrelevant why is it constantly referred to?

The Maggie Oliver foundation is for all women who have survived sexual abuse and exploitation, which includes both gangs and family and individual abuse and exploitation.
It's not specifically for one group as seems to have been suggested in the O/P

Quote from one of their caseworkers illustrating the breadth of their work
From Maya, one of the case workers on the site:
"My passion is driven through my lived experience as a CSA Survivor.
I gained national media attention and recognition when I waived my lifelong anonymity in September 2018, exposing the serial sexual abuse at the hands of my father, during his release from prison after serving just 6 years of his 10-year sentence".
So a worthwhile move, alongside as Oreo suggested, a better success rate for girls and women currently at risk, implementing the 2022 report.
Thanks for sharing

It’s a nice idea but what those women really need is the knowledge that what happened to them isn’t going to continue to happen unhampered to other girls and that all the perpetrators are brought to justice.
Agreed.
What is the money supposed to pay for? How much will each victim be given?
Anything that helps (although this is coming in rather after the fact - the scandal hit many years ago, and there was no big outcry then🤔) is obviously a good thing, but how will giving people a few quid each help? I'm not wanting to deny them anything, but it's something of an empty gesture unless there is a plan for how the money will be spent so it actually helps.

Being kind doesn't mean whipping up hate. Let's have a campaign about the white rapists.
Let’s just refer to these heinous grooming gangs as what they are, rapists! The colour creed or race is irrelevant.

I for one trust these two people 100%, they have worked tirelessly for the victims of this horrendous crime. People like Maggie Oliver should be up an award, she is a true heroine.
Patrick has also raised a lot of money to help people that have had the WFA removed.
Maggie Oliver is absolutely a hero.
Whilst I do commend fundraising via GB News there have been plenty of other TV programs raising money over the years and it’s not just GB News fans who give to worthy charities or do volunteering.

Yes and Afsal makes it clear the vast majority of rape and sexual abuse is carried out by white men and concentrating attention on one group is protecting the group causing most of the problem. GBNews would do well to reflect on that instead of whipping up hate.
I was told it was a great channel and I should give it a try. Well 3 tries and all I heard was focus on Pakistani men. Great cover for all the white perpetrators.
yes they do Jeanathome, a £5 here and there adds up as does a kind heart and some empathy, sadly lacking in some.
Fortunately the majority are kind and do quietly support
Oh and somebody who actually knows what he's talking about says many survivors are triggered and retraumatised by the current situation.

Many kind people quietly support those in need ,day in day out.

So counselling would not help?

Charlie Peters, a young GBnews journalist, has been outstanding in raising awareness of these awful gangs of primitive men. He has worked tirelessly
Himself was telling me about this last night. He was watching GBNews as Patrick launched his appeal and said he was amazed at how quickly and spontaneously viewers and listeners responded.
I really like Patrick. He’s a good soul with a kind heart.

Thanks for the link Primrose. I have donated and am thankful that at last this charity is getting the attention it deserves

There are tens of thousands aren't there. I'm sure a fiver will solve all their problems. Still I'm sure he'll love polishing his halo.
What an unpleasant post!
Yes Patrick Christys can polish his halo, below is a list of his charitable achievements.
In June 2023, he performed with the Dreamboys[12] to raise awareness of men's mental health, generating over £110,000 in donations for mental health charity Mind.[13]
In November 2023, Christys raised over £270,000 for the Royal British Legion as part of its Poppy Appeal.[14]
In November 2024, Christys raised £407,000 (£71,236 of that in Gift Aid) for UK charity Friends of the Elderly.
