Lockerbie A Father’s Search for Justice on Sky Atlantic

I watched the first episode but I’m not sure I can watch anymore. It is fabulously well acted but it just brings back too much.
I was living on a military base in northern England at that time. My husband had been away for months so I wasn’t involved when they sent trucks round in the night and loaded all the men onboard. They were away for days and we wives were all in the dark.
I saw the effect on the young boys in the months later. It was heartening to see that they showed military personnel sent out to look for wreckage, I think their part is often forgotten and many were scared for life.

I remember the date, we'd moved a day ot two earlier to start a new life, and I remember thinking how those victims' lives were snuffed out in an instant.
You bring it closer to home Mogsmaw, how such tragedies affect not only the victims and their families, but also involve many others far and wide.
I'll try to watch the drama.

A friend’s, at the time, sister was air crew on the flight. She’d swapped with the regular crew member. It devastated the family. I dint think I’ll watch it.

The remaining episodes are not explicit and focus mainly on the family and Dr Squire’s quest for the truth. I continued watching as I so admire Dr Swire’s thirty year struggle in trying to find out who was truly responsible for this horrific act. I read with great interest the comments from you all and the consequences of the bombing.

The book written by Jim Swire in 2022 is a most informative and compassionate read. I do recommend it. One comment which I found disturbing was the Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher at the time, does not mention the Lockerbie tragedy in her memoirs!

I found the first episode absolutely harrowing because of knowing what to expect and remembering all that had been written about the crash at the time.

I shall continue to watch it because I don't think we've ever really got the full picture of what went on around the whole dreadful event and I'm hoping to learn more. I'm not even sure that we got the real perpetrators...

It's very well acted. What a star Colin Firth is. Not just a pretty face..

Mogsmaw, I would think the families of the victims and villagers of Lockerbie will never ever forget the effort of those involved in the search and recovery of loved ones. Of course the experience of these young men will live with them forever,
but they hopefully realised over time, they did the most unenviable job in this saddest and tragic event.

The Repair Shop worked on the coat and collar of a Rescue dog used at Lockerbie. Several then developed fatal tumours caused by chemicals in the crater they searched.A poignant addition to the overwhelming human tragedies of a terrible crime.

I will probably watch it. I was working in central London at the time and one of our patients was on the flight . We had to send his dental records as that was the only way of identification. So heartbreakingly tragic .

Myself and my daughters all watched it. I remember the real thing vividly. So sad and I understand why the father did want he did but he became obsessed and the rest of his family felt they didn’t matter, that he only cared about justice for the daughter he lost
