It’s gripping isn’t it. Fantastic acting by both main characters. But as someone has already said……why did she go back to her flat when he was still out and about ??

I agree she is an odd character, however that is beside the point. This is based on a true story and sadly violence towards women is prevalent in society. Like her or not , her being foolish or not , matters not! What does matter is this series is informative and is letting us know that such horrors are happening across the globe and our country is no exception. If it goes only a small distance in making society aware of such dreadful violence then I applaud the series. This tv series is not fiction and I say' well done ' to all who have contributed to it's production .

Delia going back to her flat alone in the dark to collect her things, knowing the madman who was out to kill her was out on bail, was so infuriating. I was shouting at the screen just as I do when the horror film character heads off down to the cellar when they hear a noise, instead of running in the opposite direction. Why on earth did her friend let her do that? And why on earth was he ever allowed out on bail?

We all know she made massive mistakes but we must not fall into the category of 'victim blaming ' Her behaviour may have been incredibly stupid but no behaviour warrants such violence! If we victim blame it's like saying a girl who was raped should not have been out at 1am wearing a mini skirt !!!

I’ve only seen episode one, will stick with it. She’s definitely very odd, I liked the portrayal of both main characters and victims aren’t always “likeable” and “love” has a weird effect, making us sometimes tolerate things others find unacceptable.

I will watch it all.

Wish I hadn’t read this thread, have only seen the first episode and there was a spoiler up thread, will catch up tonight. I liked that the characters are different, but it sharpens the mind to think that this is based on a true story. How easy it is for women to become victims.

Binged watched it on Sunday night, loved it, but I do love true crime and dark gritty stuff. I agree Delia is not portrayed as a likeable character, she was "unconventional" to say the least, even before her awful experiences with her partner, she didn't help herself and I felt sorry for that nice guy David. Sorry I am perhaps giving too much away here. Spoiler Alert. You will see if you watch to the end, she does seem to have rebuilt her life in spite of everything, you have to admire her strength.

The justice system lets so many people down. The examples are endless.

At first I found Anna Maxwell's accent dreadful but as a drama it is compelling. It was written by the real life Delia

I thought it was brilliantly portrayed. Whether you like the characters or not is irrelevant. It was based on a true story. Hope she’s now got peace

I binge watched all four episodes last night! I loved Shaun as Endeavour so it was interesting to see him in this role. Very compelling viewing that is why I had to watch till the end.

I thought it was excellent & it felt natural to me that some people are a bit odd and unlikeable, it felt right. I have a similar history, I was beaten up & buggered by my husband in 1976, the police were great, but I wasn't as feisty as Delia, but the police station had nowhere to put me, it was just cells and offices. I got through it and trained as a social worker in the end, it was useful to have had that experience but a horrible, terrifying thing to go through.

There is a documentary on about the real story and including the real Delia. She doesn't come across as a very likeable person in the drama.

It is on ITV the night after the last episode. I do believe you can already watch on ITVX

I also thought it was very good, have only seen the first episode, but will watch some more tonight. Heavens! Shaun Evans looks a million miles from his character in Endeavour, I don't think I would have known it was him, if I hadn't read that. They are both very good him and Anna Maxwell-Martin.

Ohhh no! I cannot stand Anna Maxwell Martin!!! She has the smuggest face in the universe.
She reminds me of quite a few of the up their own bottom-type mums at the school gates. I cannot understand her appeal as any sort of a actress.

I'm not keen on her either, every part I've seen her in has the same deadpan sour face. But if you look online and find a smiling photo she doesn't look like this at all.

Delia is not a likeable person. She could have accepted help from the police to move away but she chose not to. I think the actress is brilliant.

But who’s said they didn’t have sympathy for her? I must have missed it.

Simply making the point, as several have, that Delia doesn’t come over as likeable, doesn’t mean that those who’ve said it don’t feel sympathy and horror for what she went through.

Or are we talking about Anna Maxwell Martin?
