Two tv adverts I can do without

My favourite one is the kitten taken from cat rescue and my worst one is the children in Africa with a cleft palate. It’s too difficult to watch, so reducing their chances of getting help as I always change the channel as too difficult to watch.

I’ve been cast away …

I’m clearly missing something here.
What do these refer to?

I’m afraid I can’t bear the Cadbury’s advert with the little girl. I find it over sentimental and cloying. I don’t like the bladder leak adverts either. However, yesterday afternoon, we were treated to one where various young women were pulling at sanitary towels inside their clothes to demonstrate that they were not bunching up, coming adrift or leaking. To top it off, red liquid was poured on one to demonstrate its absorbency. There is simply no need for it.

To be honest I can't say what ads I hate because I usually manage to fast forward through them all. I look back fondly at ads like the Hamlet Cigars and Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins in the Cinzano ones. Nothing like that these days, although I do have a sneaking liking for the Old Spice one with the black guy on a horse "I'm the man your man could smell like"

It is about suicide but I am not sure who it is aimed at;
me to be more sympathetic on the lookout for a potential suicide or advising the possible suicide to start talking to someone.
I find it disturbing.

I can’t bear the ad where a woman moves a bedside lam so that half the bed tips and her partner falls down into the room below- just so she can enjoy a bowl of cereal?
Mostly I just ignore ads or go and make a drink.

She has such a big mouth, especially when she is shovelling the cereal in, whilst looking down with a sort of cross eyed expression.

She now features in another advert, but can’t remember what it’s for.

The one at the yoga class is the one you mean. It is quite embarassing and then there's some weak joke about finding my natural flow.

I can't stand the ads that tell us that we can have a really fun time with our family by eatng chocolates or biscuits, such as Toffifee or Jammy Dodgers. The adults iin them all look very smug.

I do not want to hear anybody farting on the telly because they need the loo, let alone watch them sneaking off clutching a toilet roll.

Allira I would love to pay the TV license and have all those opportunities of recording extra but I am in the EU so can’t record UK programs,
That being said those 2 adverts/programs give me the creeps.

If you have a VPN which can be switched to a UK address you will be able to access BBC TV and you can then watch them on line.

As I am still working I have a desktop computer with a large screen and so can watch BBC progs. The BBC are good at finding the VPNs and inform me that I am not in the UK. So I just change the location on the VPN website. In turn the VPN provider is also monitoring the BBC. I pay £6 per month for this and it is well worth the money.

The bladder leak ad followed closely by the dating app one drive me mad so irritating and condescending

I can't stand the one for noodles where the donkey is on her back. The ones where she is sat in the toilet and it shows a pad with blood on is totally unnecessary.

I find most of them annoying. Particularly annoying is the one for over 50s dating , where the man is pulling a silly face at the art gallery and the woman hangs onto his arm , gives me the ick as does the Haribo one with the police with child voices .
The cremation or life insurance ones are an insult as the acting is so bad , so wooden .you’d think they could find better actors .

I hate any advert with a song that puts the emphasis on the wrong syllable so to make it rhyme. There's a bingo one that does it, but at the moment Flash and Bold are the worst contenders. Drives me potty.

Vacuum cleaner ads with disgusting pics of germs clinging to fibres. Also the woman who is obsessive about wardrobes.

The adverts are clearly targeted at specific times of day for what they thing is the typical viewer.

I don't watch TV in the day generally but have noticed all the 'old people' adverts are on in the afternoon e.g. cremation, Tena etc. Bingo is on between the soaps. There must be tons of research going into this and then people just mute them or whizz past

The advert that irritates me is the Zoflora one with the woman in a jumpsuit wafting through a house with flowers falling down everywhere. Personally, I love Zoflora and have been using it for forty years, way before it became trendy

I agree about the infantilisation, those &@%!$ meerkats for instance. I've never been a fan of ads but I am sure they were not quite so mindless back in the day. Some were genuinely funny and others highly artistic like the Guinness white horses.
Now it's mostly lame conversations about life assurance and cremation or how to make your home/self/laundry smell of synthetic perfume for longer. Not to mention the pee-pant women.

The KFC ad, where people all dance like zombies round a dancing chicken, why?

I agree, it's awful.

What kind of mind thinks these things up?

It's the infantilisation I can't stand. My particular pet hate at the moment is the one featuring a dog called Moose. "What doing?" - that one. Makes me cringe.

Good idea Cabbie21, I look for crisps or if it's a really annoying advert I have been known to have a mad rant! 🙊
