Watched the first 3 episodes on iPlayer and am hooked.
Totally unfeasible but brilliant.

I enjoyed the first episode. I found him endearing and like Monk played by Tony Shalhoub. I'm deliberately not binging it but watching every week. I love Anna Maxwell Martin

Disappointed with Ludwig. I usually like David Mitchell (Upstart Crow, Would I Lie to you) But I found Ludwig boring and fell asleep. Even the wonderful Anna Maxwell Martin felt wasted in this. The best I can say about Ludwig is that it's better than the tedious"Night Sleeper". My current favourite series is Colin from Accounts.

Loved it all…binge watched the lot! Hope there is a second series just my type of TV. David Mitchell and the whole cast are fun and serious at the same time. I love puzzles, and this is a whodunnit within a who dun it!😁😁😁

We agree with Pascal30. Watched it all and it does get better and very satisfying by the end. Yes unlikely, but that's entertainment. Much better and more uplifting than the dark and violent series that appear so regularly nowadays

Watched the first episode live and really liked it.It is quirky and a bit different from the usual detective fodder.

Thanks for the recommendation. I binge watched McDonald and Dodds on a recommendation from GN. Just a shame there aren’t any more.

Thoroughly enjoyed my binge watch

Loved the first episode

Loving it - more intelligent comedy at last! And no swearing as a bonus!
How can you not like the music, it’s Beethoven?!! Especially the 7th symphony - one of my favourites.

Really enjoyed it 😊

There is another really well written new series on ITVX called Our House.. extremely clever ending

Esmay Fri 27-Sept-24 12:46:41

Ludwig has been described as the new Jonathan Creek - is it ?
I'll give it a go !

watertyger Fri 27-Sept-24 12:41:02

Lighthearted, tongue in cheek, allowed for a certain quota of audience intelligence - what's not to like?
A nice break from the real world!

pamdixon Fri 27-Sept-24 12:10:01

OH and I enjoyed the first episode - we'll stick with it and see what happens! I had thought, from the trailers, that the whole thing might be rather puerile, but fortunately it wasn't! Obviously he'll crack the mystery of his missing brother, and no doubt solve a few more murders en route...........!! Hope we can last the course.

I've seen the first two episodes and will watch them again with husband on Tuesday (our crime night!), now that we have finished Sherwood season 2. I tried the first two episodesa of Grace but it's too violent nad bloodthirsty for me.

Enjoying this, he's such a good actor. And loved Upstart Crow, one of my favourite series. Will never forget the episode about Hamnet's death. So funny at the start, but I was weeping in the last few minutes. Such clever writing.

Thank you Pittcity. 💐

I enjoyed it but found the background music very irritating.

I too found the music extremely annoying. I fell asleep after he’d ‘solved’ the crime. Doubt we’ll watch any more.

I really like Ludwig. It’s really quirky and at times very funny.

Hated the execrable Nightsleeper but husband wanted to see it through to the end despite the appalling acting.

I recorded it and watched it last night. Really liked it.
Where can I binge watch… BBC IPlayer ???

Yes iPlayer has all 6 episodes.

Only really knew David Mitchell as a comic so was surprised to see he was really good. Enjoyed the first episode and will watch the rest. Also been enjoying Chelsea Detective, Nightsleeper and Apples never Fall. Amazing to see a few good things on the TV at once.

Have you not watched Upstart Crow? He's brilliant in that.

Yes! I agree. It’s Beethoven of course but hashed up bits. The intro which is used a lot later on is a few bars from the last movement of a piano sonata that I play. Opus 31 No 2 The Tempest. It just repeats and doesn’t go anywhere.
But the first episode I found satisfying otherwise. Mitchell does social agony like no one else. I thought it might be too much but it wasn’t.

Brilliant! And that first continuous shot going up and down the building through lighted windows, seeing people's movements, was stunning. I love the wit and it made me laugh out loud a lot. I will certainly watch the rest. The funniest thing for a long time, for me.
