Radio Four Comedies - Favourites?

Yes, I’ve heard it, SeaWoozle. I enjoyed it but did say I’d seen much funnier reviews online than the ones that appeared on the show. I wonder if they’d consider me as a researcher?

Has anyone heard "One Person Found This Helpful"? It's an OK listen while you're eating your tea!

I like lots of the ones mentioned, but I don’t think anyone else has mentioned the ‘oldies’ based on TV series, like Yes Minister and ‘Dad’s Army. I like the panel shows mentioned too, including The Unbelievable Truth.

Edge Falls Second series funnier than the first, IMHO.

I checked him out recently to see if he was touring. He is, and had been to our local arts centre just the week before, aargh! I’m having to make do with listening to his early series on BBC Sounds.

Me too. Grandmabatty. I must look on BBC Sounds. I would love to listen to it again.

Annoyingly it isn’t available on Sounds but can be bought on Audible. Which seems unfair if it was paid for by our licence fee. I really am going to have to subscribe to audible ( I’ve been saying this for two years now!).

I’ve never listened to Cabin Fever but did read an article by John Finnemore that had me in stitches. It was all about sea otters.

Exactly that. Round the Horne was my favourite radio comedy.

Anyone else old enough to remember Much Binding-in-the-Marsh? I mainly remember the signature tune now.

Saw a recording of Just a minute, many years ago, which was the last recording with Derek Nino as he died the following week. Also saw a recording of The News Quiz when the lovely Jeremy Hardy was a contestant., also sadly deceased.
Went to a recording of a tv comedy, Upstart Crow. It was fascinating to see behind the scenes.
The tickets for all of these were free.

Oh yes. Fifty plus years later, I can still 'hear' Kenneth Horne's voice. Wonderful radio.

Ooh yes - Cabin Pressure. I love John Finnemore and I recently binge listened to all 9 series of his Souvenir Programme. Really intelligent humour, even though some sketches were obviously written in desperation as he had to churn them out week after week, but still full of clever puns and cross-references.

Oooh Susie42 Old Harry's Game was just wonderful. I think I have it on CD somewhere - and Martin Jarvis reading Just William of course.

Well, I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue didn't disappoint. I haven't laughed that much in ages. And what a lovely bunch of humans they are too. Really didn't want the night to end. I don't think they did either, to be honest, and did a few extra bits at the end. Some surprises too (or maybe I'm just naive when I listen to it!) but I'll save those for folk to find out, should they see it. Anyway, if you can ever get tickets I definitely recommend it.

Again, Gloomsbury was very funny, but I confess, I hated Count Arthur Strong

CAS was alright for about ten minutes then it just got on my nerves. TV version was even more annoying!
