I find Jemima Rooper difficult to watch, too.
I fear it is going to go the way of recent Ch5 dramas (eg the ones starring Jo Joyner and the one with Danny Dyer) they have a great cast, a good premise and interesting first episodes, but somehow go off the boil and become daft. I have no idea why dramas on one (any) particular channel should do that - why does it matter who a writer is working for? Unless the Ch5 commissioning editor is a bit off-kilter it makes little sense.
