I saw this and thought of you.
Obviously, I have no idea if you are a ‘handbag person’,but if you are…

Hello Dickens. Brideshead is on ITVX/Britbox. All the lovely old stuff is on Britbox, which is why I love it. Forsyte Saga (the Damien Lewis one), Lark Rise, Upstairs Downstairs, All Creatures Great and Small etc etc.
Also on YouTube A Horseman Riding By, To Serve Them All my Days, Barchester Chronicles.
Did you sign up to ITVX?
Have a nice day. Off for my swim now.
Yes - signed up!
If you are prepared to wait a while, it seems many of the Britbox offerings eventually find their way to other (free) channels.

I have just found Staying On! It's on YouTube if you want to watch it.
Isn't it amazing, we can watch anything we want when we want. A bit different from when we were children and there were 2 TV channels.
... yes! We've just been watching it on YT! It's a gem!
My goodness, there were some good productions then.
Not quite in the same category - but did you watch Brideshead Revisited - the original TV production with Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews, and of course Laurence Olivier?
So glad you posted today!

Thanks Dickens. No never seen Staying On. I don't know if it's available anywhere. There are some old British films on Britbox/ITVX.
I have been watching Dickensian again tonight as it's a few years since I last saw it. Enjoying it. Better than Sky football which His Lordship watches every night!

Sorry Dickens, I have made that a bit complicated. If you sign up only to Britbox via their app it's £5.99. If you sign up to ITVX via their app it's still £5.99, which ALSO gives you the Britbox content and no adverts.
Hope that's clear!
Yes - it is!
Thank you so much for that info.
I'd love to watch Jewel In The Crown again. Did you also watch Staying On with Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard?
These productions were absolutely brilliant.
I shall sign up! This has made my day!

I do hope you enjoy it Dickens. I absolutely love the BBC period dramas. As I said, it's
a shame you have to put up with adverts, but it is a free channel.
If you like the old BBC stuff you may want to consider Britbox. I originally signed up to watch The Jewel in the Crown, and I have stayed with it. It's £5.99 a month and you can cancel anytime. It has loads of older BBC and ITV programmes. It recently amalgamated with the new ITVX, at the same price. You also get all the ITVX content without adverts.

And Miss Havisham’s backstory…
Sorry! I’ll stop now. But please let me know your thoughts
I'm rather liking the idea of a Dickens mash-up!
Some familiar names among the cast...
I will definitely report back.
So grateful to Littleannie for posting this!

Dickensian [DVD] [2015] amzn.eu/d/j5R9uRe
Hello Dickens
Well, it’s a total mash up of the classics.
And some quite important parts of the novels have been radically changed.
I really enjoyed the whole premise of the venture.
It was developed by Tony Jordan, who is / was a chief writer for Eastenders.
The show originally went out at 7.30 (I think) every day in a 30 minute slot, just as a contemporary soap would.
As you are well aware , Dickens pretty much invented the idea of serialisation, cliff hangers etc.
You might be interested to read the reviews for the DVD on Amazon.
But, as I said, I absolutely adore it.
I’ve watched it at least three times, and will watch it again this Christmas!
I really hope that you enjoy it!
Please report back

Have you seen it already Dickens?
(Dickensian, that is)
I’d be really interested to hear you views.
I’m a massive fan of, but the Dickens purists were a bit put out I think.
The casting is brilliant, Bill Sikes especially is perfect
I've just signed up! Looking forward to seeing this.
What did the purists object to, specifically?
