For those of us who have enjoyed this show and might not be aware that the final series consisting of 2 two hourly episodes is due to be shown with episode 1 this coming Sunday 26th Feb, and the final episode the following Sunday, 5th March.
Yet another great series coming to an end…

We were confused towards the end when Morse was sitting on the bench with Thursday’s gun, and it went BANG, but a second later he was singing in the choir.
We knew he would live but wondered what that was about.
It was good tv and the follow up programme was well worth watching.

Yes, we were rather confused too.

Perhaps there was just one bullet and he wanted to be rid of it as a symbol of the type of policing he wanted left in the past?

I think Endeavour has to be the best because of the way it is a foretaste of the future Morse, and, with hindsight, explains a few mysteries about him. The script is skilfully crafted, with many references, too many to take in, I guess, to future events we know about from Morse.
I have discovered that Miss Frazil is a clever choice, as Frazil is a form of ice. Her first name is Dorothea, so D-Ice= Thaw.
( The actress is John Thaw’s daughter).

Loved it. We did a guided Morse tour of Oxford last year, well worth it.

I thought this final episode was very well balanced. I was expecting the usual demolished wedding, shooting, heart attack etc that have become so prevalent in modern productions. But, oh, no, as in keeping with the structured model of the time, the ending was solid, satisfying and conclusive. The circle had been rounded. Great scenes, script, acting, camera work and also in depth symbolism which follows traditional literary lines. Loved it.

Excellent review!

Yes, I thought "Lewis" didn't look well at all, very thin and a reddened face.

I agree paddyanne its been the best. there have been one or two weird episodes but over all splendid.

I like the way they have always blended in social and political changes in as the years went on.

But why "best? for me?"

I think it's been the blend of characters, and their interrelationships over the years.

I do think it rounded everything off, thoroughly enjoyed all of Endeavour, Morse & Lewis.

I know we are all ageing, but was shocked at how Kevin Whately looked.
Has he been ill?

Wyllow3 Sun 12-Mar-23 22:47:49

Liking Shaun's Liverpool accent in the follow up!

Brilliant pairing Morse and Thursday and I did cry ,which is most unlike me .
I was a big fan of John Thaw but I think this has been just as good if not better

Wyllow3 Sun 12-Mar-23 22:46:09

Its been so many years of our lives, I think mamaa to develop real attachments. Such and such happened...

cornergran Sun 12-Mar-23 22:45:41

No tears here either. We were both glued to the tv though.

Charleygirl5 Sun 12-Mar-23 22:38:18

I did enjoy this evening's episode but not a tear here.

mamaa Sun 12-Mar-23 22:35:43

Why do I feel so sad? Did they ever find ‘Big Pete’ in subsequent episodes of Morse?

Wyllow3 Sun 12-Mar-23 22:33:30

Morse and the last Endeavour’ is brilliant, sightly recommended.

eazybee Sun 12-Mar-23 22:18:17

What a perfect ending; Faure's Requiem at Blenheim Palace; Morse in his red jaguar and Anton Lesser reciting The Tempest.

Visgir1 Sun 12-Mar-23 22:17:32

Think I need to re watch to take it all in, got a bit lost at times. Really enjoyed this series.
But got it right when I said to DH the other Morse should make an appearance.

Surprised when I read in the paper yesterday..
Endeavour programs 36
Morse 33
Lewis 33..
Always thought Morse was on forever and loads recorded.

Wyllow3 Sun 12-Mar-23 22:10:30

Oh me too mamaa I have the news on silent to find other endeavour fans!

Wyllow3 Sun 12-Mar-23 22:09:45

Oh my hankies out all the last half! what a finale........and that change of eyes in the car mirror (predictable but proper)

....but main hankies were out in the last Endeavour/thursday Scene.

Music fan alert:
not a surprise:
Endeavour at home with music as he looks at papers: Mozart Requiem mass.
Endeavour singing in the choir at the end was Gabriel Fauré - Requiem : 'In Paradisum' (last part go the mass)

mamaa Sun 12-Mar-23 22:07:15

Shall watch the follow up programme ‘’Morse and the last Endeavour’- after the ITV news. Not sure why but think it could be a good watch!

merlotgran Sun 12-Mar-23 22:04:55

😪😪 I feel so sad that it had ended.

mamaa Sun 12-Mar-23 21:31:22

totes agree- even though we know Morse survives…

Calendargirl Sun 12-Mar-23 21:00:23

Only 1 hour in, but already think this final episode will be a tear jerker.

What a good memory you have Wyllow3!

You should go on Mastermind with Endeavour as your specialist subject.
