An essay on the power of PR, by volver.
A post is made that says, Apart from the late Queen's brilliant response that "recollections may vary". The expectation might be that someone might draw the conclusion from that, that the Queen responded to something with the words "recollections may vary".
However, there is a press statement which says it is issued by Buckingham Palace on behalf of the Queen. I doubt sincerely if she signed off every press release they made. She was probably quite busy reigning, or something. But she may indeed have signed this one off, having read the first one and not liked it. For whatever reason.
But folklore now says that she used those words, personally, showing just what a wise old lady she was. And even if “you” don’t believe it, that’s the implication.
PR in action.
