I think youâve got some good points Doodledog about the social âteachingâ thatâs on Corrie. I tend to think itâs overplayed and feel as if Iâm being taught to suck eggs, but probably there are people like your mum, who it helps to learn.
I do find the lawyers office annoying though. That hasnât been well researched at all. Barristers and solicitors donât work together in the same office. Barristers join a set of Chambers from where they practice. They tend only to wear gowns and wigs in The Royal Courts of Justice, but I think criminal barristers wear them in other courts. These lawyers appear to have no specialties, and both barristers and solicitors specialise. They also appear in court with apparently no waiting. Trials take months to get to court. If Deedee is a barrister, she wouldnât be working with Adam, who is a solicitor. I just wish that since the writers have incorporated a solicitorâs office into the street, they would actually take the trouble to find out a bit about how it works.
And why does no one at all ever get given a GP appointment in about three weeks? They ring up, the phone is answered immediately, and they get an appointment in about half an hour. Not the experience of most Gransnetters I gather from all the GP threads on here.
