Fans of Louise Candlish, I'm one, may be interested to know that her novel "Our House" has been dramatised and starts tomorrow at 9pm. Starring Martin Compston and Tuppence Middleton.

I hope the programme will be as good as the book. For anyone who hasn't read it, the premise, inspired by a real case, is when a couple find that their house, they have bought, lived in and lovingly restored, has been sold behind their backs in a sophisticated scam.

What about the pregnant friend? Was Bram the baby’s father or was that not clarified either way?

The scene where he was dead got me thinking: what would I do ?

I kept expecting him to jump up suddenly.

I'd have made absolutely sure he was dead, washed up the glasses, cleaned everything and got the hell out of there.

Of course, fibres etc from her clothes would be on his so there was really no hiding place.

What a pity that in his suicide note Bram even mentioned Fi's relationship with Mike/Toby. Without that she might have got away Scot free./

I know - he was trying to be helpful but dropped her right in it!

So - will Fi get to keep the money after she gets out of prison? It is hers after all
She might - but Toby / Mike said she might get 20 years…….
I wonder about the young girl sidekick

SPOILER ALERT

Could someone tell me what happened at the end, please? I just couldn't hear the last bit where there is a message from Bram although I'm assuming he committed suicide?

Yes, he confessed to the accident, was committing suicide as he was ravaged with guilt, but completely dropped Fi in it as he said how Toby/Mike hadcompletely hoodwinked her, and she had no knowledge of the fraudulent house sale.
This was after she told police she had never laid eyes on the dead man!
And Bram had put all the money into her bank account.

SPOILER ELERTA

And Bram couldn't have killed Mike/Toby because he had gone abroad on a false passport.

So - will Fi get to keep the money after she gets out of prison? It is hers after all.

What would Fi have done if Toby/Mike hadn’t drunk any of the wine?

“No thanks, better not, I’m driving”.

?

Or said "This looks as if it's corked"

No NotTooOld it's me who should apologise. It's been "get the Scots" day on GN today and I snapped at you without good reason. I'm sorry.

NotTooOld Fri 11-Mar-22 17:05:58

Sorry, volver, didn't mean to offend.

Ooh, thanks. I get it now. It was the Scottish accent wot dunnit. Sorry, all you Scots out there. I expect my London accent is incomprehensible to you.

No, I can perfectly well understand the language I was educated in.

SPOILER ALERT

Yes, Bram sent a message to the police confessing to the road rage / child dying - and saying his wife knew nothing about it. Unfortunately his wife had just killed the blackmailer…. So the poor children will have no daddy and a mother in jail

Both my husband and I both enjoyed the series, and didn't see the end coming.

Excellent acting, but very dark in some scenes which made it difficult to see what was happening. Had to use sub-titles as parts were difficult to hear. But worth watching!

Charleygirl5 Fri 11-Mar-22 13:49:10

Farzanah I am amazed there was room for the wine because she added a shedload of antidepressants also.

Calendargirl I also expected him to refuse for the same reason.

Tuppence Middleton is mid 30s though, Witzend. She must just be one of those lucky people who don’t age. envy

Well, she might be, but IMO would have been more realistic for someone who actually looked the right sort ofage to play the part.

Farzanah Fri 11-Mar-22 12:34:15

I definitely won’t be reading any of the author’s books after sticking with this unlikely tale all week.
Spoiler.
I think I would taste 20+ Sleeping tabs crushed in wine. So many ridiculous, unbelievable scenarios.
You can only suspend so much disbelief.

Anybody else thinks Tuppence Middleton looks a bit like DOC?

Yes...us too, and also called ‘ Middleton’. Loved this...totally unexpected ending.

We quite enjoyed this. Didn’t see that ending coming we had a completely different theory. Didn’t like seeing Rupert Penry Jones as a baddie it didn’t seem to fit.

Me neither, he's so lovely!

Millie I decided I won't bother reading any of the author's books after watching that.
