Reacher Amazon Prime so much better than Tom Cruise

Oh I'm glad they've commissioned season 2. I wonder if they will work their way through the books in numerical order.

I've read all the Jack Reacher books. Seen all the films with Tom Cruise starring. BUT this new Jacker Reacher series was way better in every way. I thought it was true to the books. And the guy playing Jack was certainly my cup of tea.

We are half way through just finished episode 4 . It’s really good and looking forward to the rest

DH found this only last night and we watched the first episode. I read some of the books a few years ago and quite enjoyed the films. Thoroughly enjoyed this and am looking forward to more episode/s tonight. Glad there’s to be a season 2. ? ? ??

I watched this, not sure if I would enjoy it, though I have avidly devoured the books. Alan Richson does look the part. As Reacher is a laconic character, it doesn't matter if he seems to lack animation. Definitely an 'actions speak louder' hero! I look forward to Series 2 which was commissioned as soon as they knew this series had turned out to be a hit.

Yes we're really enjoying it as well . Loving the humour in it and so much closer to the books isn't it? Good escapism .

I have just got episodes 7 and 8 to go. We have watched it over the last two evenings, will finish it tonight. Really enjoying it.

Although I didn’t agree with Tom Cruise being cast as Reacher (purely due to the physical difference) I must admit that I like both his Reacher films & have watched them several times.
I’ve got all the Reacher books somewhere and now want to find them and read them all again DH better not have sneakily got rid of them!!! (Too stingy to buy them all again on kindle!)

Clearly unanimous opinions in the casting of Tom Cruise. I'll add my husband's voice, he's a great Jack Reacher fan, and was aghast when they cast him, he's now watching the new Amazon series with enthusiasm, telling me the actor playing JR is doing the character justice, at last!

We will all have our image but MY Reacher is a bit more Clint Eastwood. A bit less gym bunny and a bit more rugged. Sexier, don’t think I fancy this one!
However he will do and I will continue to watch.
I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch Tom so can’t comment on the quality of the acting but Ritchson certainly is more believable.

Thank you for your recommendation! Like you I couldn’t get along with the Tom Cruise Reacher. I have started watching it and find it far more accurate and in the spirit of the Lee Childs character.

I could not believe in Tom Cruise as Reacher and did not watch the films for that reason. Cannot stand Tom Cruise. We are watching this new series and Alan Ritchson is so much more like the Reacher in the books.

Glad GN has given this the Thumbs up, will watch. I did see a review in the paper yesterday saying it was good and how Tom Cruise definitely was no Reacher.

I am not sure but I think Tom Cruise was a or the producer, so he cast himself. It was somewhat absurd as he is a small, slim man and Reacher – well – isn't. Reacher's physique is such an integral part of the stories that this was a rather misguided decision or ambition.

Another one who thinks Tom Cruise was not right in the role.

Can't stand Tom Cruise as Reacher

Yes my husband is watching the new series. He has read a lot of the books and was not impressed when they cast Tom Cruise in the part and is much happier with the new Jack Reacher.

Feel Ritchson looks the part but doesn’t have Tom Cruise acting ability - a little wooden imo! Will persevere in the hope he grows into the role, and on me!

Didn't know about this. I am a Reacher fan and have read all the books. I went to see Lee Child at a crime writers festival in Harrogate.
I agree that Tom Cruise was miscast as Reacher. Watched the film but it felt wrong.
