I like watching it and seeing how the kids get on.
I find Harry Hill irritating particularly when he interrupts their cooking time, which is pretty tight anyway.
And I think the age group range is too wide ...9 - 15 years! How can one really compare fairly the difference/competence/quality of items produced by a 9 year old and a 15 year old? Its not really fair on the younger ones.
This week it was 9-13 years age difference. Next week it is 9-15 age range of contestants. Bet the older ones get through!
Wow!!! think the last time I watched EE - Sonia would have been a teenager.!! Sorry, of course, a further group of contestants start this week - do think Kezia must be in with good chance of being winner - but we do not know who else will be in those finals. I did laugh out loud at the wonderful couple of minutes caught on camera of one of the little contestants having a real battle with those horrible Smeg fridge/freezers. Trying to get something in the freezer which was so high up for her and every time she opened the door, it closed before she could actually put the article in it.
I do feel that they could really divide this into Primary school aged group (upto aged 11 years) and then 12 upwards. Enormous difference between a 9 year old and a 14 year old. Could work these side by side, but start with more contestants and two star bakers and two leaving each day.
I love the programme, but dislike Harry Hill, his 'jokes' are way before their time and very off-putting. I am always surprised at how clumsy the children are, it is the same every year! I see there is a new bunch of contestants starting tomorrow.
I love this programme. The younger children on it are so natural. Lola was so funny with the black colouring on the steam buns, covering everything, her hands, worktop, etc. etc. So typical of a young child baking and using food colouring. Eliza and Kezla are both lovely and very good. I have recorded it all, and watch it to cheer myself up- still have two more episodes to go, so - at this stage do not know the actual winner.
I much prefer the junior bake off, Harry Hill is brilliant. Paul Hollywood showed a different side to his personality, seemed 'quite nice'. I'm glad Liam is back though.
I have watched a couple of times and the kids are great but Harry Hills jokes are questionable. Some go over the bakers heads thank goodness as they have quite adult content and not really suitable.
Is anyone else watching this? OH and I record it and watch it in the evening. We both like Harry Hill and his interaction with the young bakers. His jokes either go over their heads, or they find him funny or ignore him. The young bakers enjoy what they are doing and the mistakes they are usually just shrugged off, covered with icing or wiped down if they have dropped anything. We are usually in stitches throughout the programme; it’s just something light hearted to look forward to during the day! It’s on channel 4 at 5 pm and I think on All 4 on catch up.
