‘Feel Good’ Films: Please Help!?

What We Did On Our Holidays - David Tennant/Rosamund Pike/Billy Connolly. OK it's not a Christmas film and there's a death ... but it is delightful and the scenery is glorious.

My favourite feel-good film is Mr. Holland's Opus, starring Richard Dreyfus. It's about a young composer who takes a teaching job to make some money so he can retire to compose, hates the job and the students .. then loves it. Wonderful music including some classical and some gorgeous Gershwin and a tear-jerker ending that is also uplifting and joy-making.

Shall We Dance with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez (one for you and one for him!!!) One of my all time favourites and very uplifting...

Seabiscuit is a lovely film, and a true story to boot.

We recently watched "The Last Bus" with the brilliant Timothy Spall, he plays an old man who travels from John o Groats to Lands End using his bus pass on public transport, he has lots of "interesting" encounters on the way. I won't give anything away but I can highly recommend it, just have the hankies ready for the end.

Groundhog Day and if you can stand Jim Carrey, Bruce Almighty.

Or for children, the Polar Express

But for me it is not Christmas until I have watched Miracle on 34th Street, the Richard Attenborough one.

As it's Christmas, what about It's a Wonderful Life starring James Stewart? An old film but a classic.

Not festive but delightful. Goodbye Christopher Robin is lovely. Not the Ewan McGregor one about Winnie the Pooh, the other one. Also Yesterday is feel good.

‘Now Voyager’

Ugly duckling turns into beautiful swan.

‘Dirty Dancing’ has a happy ending, sort of, but probably not really a DH film?

Four Weddings and a Funeral.
