So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

I thought Rhys at the beginning was terrific. I couldn't take my eyes off him. He's a natural dancer and so is John. He and Johannes were great.

AJ was graceful and elegant.

Like others have said, I can't warm to Greg Wise. He's too full of himself.

Loved the music to Robert & Dianne's tango.

And Tilly .... what can I say, she was f a b u l o u s !!

Did anyone vote?

Grannynannywanny Sat 02-Oct-21 23:08:02

I said to my daughter after last week’s show that I thought Tilly would be the dark horse. I think it even more so this week. Their performance was wonderful. I’ll stick my neck out and predict Tilly and Nikita will be in the final.

Usually at this time in the series you can spot the duffers but there don't seem to be any this year. I thought some of the marking was a bit weird because it didn't always match the comments. Greg Wise is being too much of a luvvie - none of the other actors are.

Josianne Sat 02-Oct-21 21:46:01

I think Sara probably has a strong work ethic. Especially juggling her business and her children in addition to practising.

Sweetpeasue Sat 02-Oct-21 21:45:07

Oh heck I forgot, yes the BBC presenter was amazing too.

Sweetpeasue Sat 02-Oct-21 21:42:52

John and Joanne's are fantastic together. John's such a natural dancer.
Robert Webb's footwork amazing in his Tango.
Thought the music to Adam and Katya's Quickstep was horrible and did nothing for a quickstep rhythm.
Judy Love - - what a tryer-- her bum was magnificent!
The highlight for me - - such a surprise--was Sara and her foxtrot with Alijaz. It was so graceful. I'm sure the songs and music make such a difference and I love 'Dream a little dream of me'. Sara's probably not going to be consistent with different dances though. So many good dancers.

Josianne Sat 02-Oct-21 21:41:16

I think I'll go for Tilly Ramsay or the Dragons Den lady (Sara?) this week.

rafichagran Sat 02-Oct-21 21:40:55

I thought Greg done a nice tribute to his sister. I thought the dance was moving and both he and Karen did a good performance and showed dignity.

Sara1954 Sat 02-Oct-21 21:17:10

Me too regarding back stories, they always annoy me, sad yes, but relevant, no.
I really can’t take to Greg either.
Four of us watching, two votes for Judy, one for John and Johannes, one for the CBBC boy, sorry, forgotten his name.

Mollygo Sat 02-Oct-21 21:04:43

Pressed too soon. Didn’t rate Greg’s dance anyway. The first couple ( I forgot names) great. AJ great too.

Mollygo Sat 02-Oct-21 21:02:36

Calendar girl I agree about the back stories.

Josianne Sat 02-Oct-21 20:53:58

The floor lighting is so clever, especially the Autumn leaves.

Josianne Sat 02-Oct-21 20:51:05

The camera on John and Johannes concentrated far to much on abs and bums. We didn't see enough footwork. But they were good.
I can't take to Greg either.

Calendargirl Sat 02-Oct-21 20:39:10

Greg Wise still full of himself, he’s not keen on criticism.

At the risk of coming across as heartless, think it’s too early in the series to hear lots of back stories and family coming in to say how marvellous their dad, son, daughter, spouse is.

Let’s just see them dance at this stage, and judge on that.

TillyTrotter Sat 02-Oct-21 20:16:43

AJ & Kai did such a different dance tonight from last week, but she is a natural.
She got the hang of what pro dancer Ian Waite always called “a tulip in a glass” back position (if you watched him ever on “It Takes Two”.

TillyTrotter Sat 02-Oct-21 20:12:19

I thought John and Johannes were fabulous again tonight.
Why was Robert and Diane’s dance marked low when judges said he made NO mistakes and others did?
Finding marking erratic tonight.

I, as always, loved watching Strictly on Saturday evening.

Sorry to hear that the two had contracted Covid, I hope it's mild for them, & we see them back the week after next.

I hadn’t watched Strictly since Arlene was a judge. However, my daughter was home for the weekend and asked to watch it. Well, most of it was vapid and annoying but John and Johanne were amazing. That was probably the best tango I’ve ever seen. Sadly I won’t be watching again, mainly because of the vapid and annoying stuff.

Kate1949 Mon 27-Sept-21 14:29:54

It was a Celeb Bake Off for Stand up to Cancer in 2019 Grannynw

Grannynannywanny Mon 27-Sept-21 12:52:50

I didn’t realise he was in Celebrity Bake Off. I didn’t see that series. It will be interesting to see at the weekend if he’s taken advice and toned down his attitude.

Sara1954 Mon 27-Sept-21 12:10:44

I totally agree about Greg, he loves himself far too much for my liking.
He needs to remember, he could be the best dancer on the planet, but if the public don’t like him, he won’t last five minutes.

Kate1949 Mon 27-Sept-21 12:02:13

Greg was very full of himself on Celebrity Bake Off, which he won.

Grannynannywanny Mon 27-Sept-21 11:51:52

I agree about Greg. I liked him the first week and thought he was going to be fun and wasn’t going to take himself too seriously. On Saturday night I realised I’d got that completely wrong.

I thing he has an over inflated ego and is perhaps too used to being surrounded by adoring fans. Shirley’s critique of his performance wasn’t well received. If they don’t want to listen to the experts then they shouldn’t sign up for the show.

Grandmabatty Mon 27-Sept-21 10:44:34

I'm disappointed in Greg. I really like him as an actor and considered him good looking. But his lovey attitude has put me right off him.

MerylStreep Mon 27-Sept-21 09:54:28

I think Greg Wise thought he had it in the bag until Shirley piped up ?
