So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

I wonder how they will fill up the programme with 2 celebs missing? I hope we would have another dance or two from the pros but suspect there might be more "back stories" instead which I'm not keen on..... would rather see more dancing.

Ugo has a back injury.

Grandmabatty Thu 14-Oct-21 18:01:37

Now Ugo has pulled out of this week.

GD = goddaughter here.

I think the Strictly dancers and celebrities work harder than most footballers (who seem to have plenty of time off!). A lot of the celebrities continue with their day job too. So, I guess it would be unreasonable to expect them all to do another live show on Sunday, even if it were just getting costumes and make up on and standing on the staircase for the judging.
My GD was in 42nd street in the west end and even at her youthful age the physical side of things was gruelling, as well as 27 costume changes in the show.

When my daughter and I went to a Strictly show, the results show took place after a half hour break from the main show. Afterwards, we were all asked to raise our right hands and swear not to divulge the results before the following night. It`s daft to expect that every single person will keep shtum, it`d be much better to have the results on TV on the same night

When it was first on TV the results show was aired in the same night.

I think it was moved as X Factor had results show (live) on a Sunday and they followed suit. Unfortunately Strictly has never had a live result show on a Sunday as like you say it is recorded approximately 45-60 minutes after the main show, this is due to costumes/make-up and special effects being very time consuming to replicate on two consecutive nights.

Such a shame that Robert has had to drop out - I liked him and Diane but agree he seemed below par on Saturday. I agree about the Muppet outfit - I thought the hat looked awful.

Mollygo Thu 14-Oct-21 09:57:00

Disappointing for him and Diane. It’s as well to know when to stop. Being taken ill on a programme wouldn’t be good for any one, least of all Robert.

lemsip Thu 14-Oct-21 09:53:58

I copied and pasted this But there is a full statement from him on the strictly site...

Robert webb, British comedian was forced Stop Strictly Come Dancing Only 3 weeks later due to “illness”. Robert had an open heart surgery in 2019 and ...

Josianne Thu 14-Oct-21 09:20:30

Oh dear. Health comes first.
I agree, I thought he was struggling a bit last week.

Grandmabatty Thu 14-Oct-21 09:16:47

I also was sad to hear that Robert had retired from strictly. I wonder if he was unwell last week as his performance wasn't as good as he can dance. Not that wearing a Muppet costume would be easy for anyone to dance in.

Calendargirl Thu 14-Oct-21 06:57:02

Just read that Robert Webb has retired from Strictly, health reasons.

Don’t think he would have gone too far, but always a shame if someone has to drop out.

I`ve been to 2 Strictly tour shows at the O2 Arena, but am not really fond of that place, it feels cold and unfriendly.

TillyTrotter Tue 12-Oct-21 19:02:04

I went to an Arena to see a “Strictly” Tour show with my sister a month after Ore Oduba lifted the trophy with Joanne Clifton.
We saw them dance to “Singing in the Rain”, Danni Mac & Oti did their Jungle Samba dance, and Ed Balls & Katya did “Gangnam Style”.
The audience voted, and the majority voted for Danni’s dance and made him the winner of that Show.

DanniRae Tue 12-Oct-21 17:22:42

I too went to "Strictly" with my daughter - when it was at Wembley Arena. It was so exciting - yes, very long - but I was so thrilled to be there. It was 2012 and Girls Aloud and Kylie Minogue performed too. A very enjoyable evening grin

Grannynannywanny Tue 12-Oct-21 17:02:17

Thanks Hellogirl1. Yes, 4 hours does sound like a long time to be sitting there. I remember about 30 years ago having tickets to the recording of a BBC show. The singers had sometimes to do several takes of the same song due to minor technical hitches with cameras etc. Now that I think of it we were in the studio for over 4 hours although it was eventually broadcast as a one hour show.

Hellogirl1 Tue 12-Oct-21 16:21:02

We both enjoyed it Grannynannywanny, but felt that once was enough, it`s interesting to see how things are done, but you get a much sparklier and glossy effect watching it on TV. Also the chairs were exceptionally uncomfortable, seeing as we were on them for over 4 hours!

Calendargirl Tue 12-Oct-21 11:11:46

we were all asked to raise our right hands and swear not to divulge the results before the following night

Oh, what faith the BBC must have in the British public! Or how naive.

Perhaps a few naughty ones raised their left hands instead, so it didn’t really count.

??

Grannynannywanny Mon 11-Oct-21 22:41:37

Hellogirl1 did you enjoy the experience? Please tell us more!

Kali2 Mon 11-Oct-21 22:01:58

wow, had no idea. Thanks, agreed.

I wish they’d go back to 2 shows on a Saturday evening with the results show at 9pm. Most folk now know the results show is recorded on Saturday night. It’s irritating when they refer to the Saturday show as if it was 24 hours ago when it was probably just 2 hours ago.

eazybee Mon 11-Oct-21 11:43:54

I didn't know it was possible to access the results before Sunday evening; how naive of me, but as I don't do twitter or Facebook the temptation isn't there.

I will say how much I dislike the increasingly protracted announcement of who is in the dance off, against the silly background music and the increasingly agonised expressions on the contestants' faces.
I would like to know the voting figures.

Nannylovesshopping Mon 11-Oct-21 10:10:46

I loved this weekends show, utterly fabulous, Johannes and John are mesmerising, think Anton is a great judge, Motsi is just bonkers, Shirley, snipey and Craig, nothing changes there! It so lifts my Saturday evening?

Blinko Mon 11-Oct-21 09:28:34

TillyTrotter

Claude must have a whole rail of slightly odd clothes for future shows. ?

She always looks slightly barmy to me. She's paid a small fortune....
