So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

Fabulous show.
John & Jo, AJ & Kai (mesmerising made me shiver); Rose & Giovannia - all brilliant.
I love Gratsi, shame he got Judi.

dogsmother Sat 30-Oct-21 21:00:41

Rose has me in mind of a lady cleaner from an office I worked in in Balham many years ago. She was also deaf to the same extent and another inspiration. She had dance medals and was very proud of her drivers license too. The wonderful Peggy. I don’t remember her other name.

Tonights dancing was wonderful. I held my breath during Rose and Giovanni's Tango. She was excellent, absolutely loved it. AJ amazing too.
Thought the choice of music, War of the Worlds was so good to dance the Tango to even though Adam didn't quite perfect it.
Poor Dan. I mean it was a shame he had to dress as a Lobster anyway.
First time I've heard Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata on Strictly. Loved it and the Viennesse Waltz suited it beautifully.
Think Dan, Judy and Sara look to be the weakest.
What a fantastic evening tonight!

Rose was absolutely fabulous and Gio looked very emotional. He has always been top of the leader board in Halloween week every year apparently. He seems different this year with Rose and they are a great couple.

PollyTickle Sat 30-Oct-21 22:41:54

I adore Rose. I had no idea who she was before Strictly. She’s just so full of joy and happiness and has a wicked sense of humour, most of all she dances beautifully.

MayBeMaw Sun 31-Oct-21 00:02:08

I agree Rose is outstanding - IMO even if she were not deaf she would still be head and shoulders above the rest.
I loved John and Johannes ‘ routine , they are just technically and musically so good but I’m afraid I can’t agree on the Moonlight Sonata - I thought it was thumped out like an unwilling child learning the piano and the accompanying Viennese Waltz lacked any grace or fluidity of movement.

Calendargirl Sun 31-Oct-21 08:06:28

Have to say I’m not a fan of Halloween Special though. The dancers often seem so busy hamming it up it detracts from their performance, the actual dance suffers (not with every couple, but certainly with some of them).

So do I but I do wish he would close his mouth.

I'm with the majority and voted for Rose, AJ, and John.
I think it's bye bye Judi tonight.

TillyTrotter Sun 31-Oct-21 11:39:05

I would put Judi and Dan in the dance off.
Sara’s dance left me thinking she is good in Aljaz’s safe hold but when she is out of hold, not so good.
Asking Adam to tuck his derrière under may be an impossibility - he is what we would say “a curvy guy”.

Sparklefizz Sun 31-Oct-21 11:55:58

I reckon Michael Jackson's Killer dance has never been beaten. I was hoping to see that for Halloween. Sigh. Back to YouTube. smile

Sparklefizz Sun 31-Oct-21 11:56:48

Sorry, "Thriller" not "Killer" smile

Grannynannywanny Sun 31-Oct-21 13:01:03

It was another very enjoyable show. Rose and Giovanni’s performance was stunning. If the voting system was fair I think Judi and Dan should be in the dance off. But I suspect Dan’s fan base might save him for another week.

I like Sara and have enjoyed seeing her progress. But, last night her performance seemed to be lacking and she looked uncomfortable. I think she might be in the dance off.

Just finished my usual Sunday watch through of all the dances and could watch some of them several times.. Rose and Giovanni really stood out. We're a way off the final but I do hope she, John and AJ are there.

I'm not deaf but I taught in a primary school where there were deaf and hearing children My inclusive teaching was totally reliant on the teaching assistants of the deaf that could sign. We worked as a team in the classroom. I had support too from the deaf community in providing the deaf children with music lessons and learning to play instruments. Flute and clarinet became favourites. All done through vibrations. We were proud to be an inclusive school.

Thank you BBC for asking Rose to compete. She will have done much to convince many in the hearing world who think of deafness in negative terms.

Sparklefizz Sun 31-Oct-21 20:04:46

What a shock that Adam was in the dance off but there was no comparison between his dance and Judi's. Judi hardly moved her feet at all, in fact I thought she danced more during her final dance at the very end. I was saying to Adam "Tuck in your bum" as he danced. (of course, he listened to me smile )

The right person has left in my view.

dragonfly46 Sun 31-Oct-21 20:08:37

I felt Judy was not feeling 100%.

Josianne Sun 31-Oct-21 20:09:57

I think everyone knew Judi was going.
Could it be because Adam's partner Katya is not very popular that they were in the bottom two?

Sweetpeasue Sun 31-Oct-21 20:15:17

Of course right one went out tonight. Quite touched by Judy's exit remarks. She was genuinely gutted to go.
I absolutely loved Adam and Katya's routine. More than appropriate to have Beethoven at the piano and being tormented by his demon, deafness.
Good to have lovely Rose on the show to prove a lot can be achieved with such a disability as you've pointed out muse.

Anyone else thought Shirley's hairstyle looked a--ma--zing? I wasn't certain if her big long wavy locks she sometimes has or the short Bob was her own.
Glad Dan managed to stay but he's hanging on by his fingernails now. Could it be Dan and Sara for dance off next week?

Sweetpeasue Sun 31-Oct-21 20:16:40

Think I meant short bob not Bob. ?

Calendargirl Sun 31-Oct-21 20:27:38

Dan is the next worse dancer left now, but he is popular, and I think Amy is too. I don’t rate Sara, but Aliaz is very popular also with the public. Think that swings things in their favour. Rhys’ partner Nancy is new, shouldn’t think she has made her mark with the public yet either, could be why he was in the dance off last week.

Kim19 Sun 31-Oct-21 20:32:39

Think Judi's departure was a foregone conclusion and the correct decision. I love the way we still have shocks with the public vote. No one is comp!surely safe but, yes, some are obviously a little safer than others. P!ease remind me, has Giovanni ever picked up the glitter ball and, if so, who with?

Grandmadinosaur Sun 31-Oct-21 20:41:04

Kim19 no he hasn’t surprisingly. Been in several finals but never won the glitter ball. I think he should have done when he danced with Faye Tozer.
He is a brilliant choreographer.
Yes right decision tonight.

Kim19 Sun 31-Oct-21 20:51:47

Thank you, G. Yes I totally agree with you re Faye Tozer. They were robbed. I particularly remember a dance they did as puppets. Quite extraordinary and amazing.

Dinahmo Sun 31-Oct-21 20:58:57

I agree with Honeyrose about Adam's movements last week. Is that why he got into the dance off this week? The audience just didn't like it?

Am I the only one fed up with hearing about Dan's wife? Every time he's interviewed he mentions his lovely wife and children. And it's not just him. Claudia and Janette also bring up the subject.

I feel the same about Tom Fletcher - always mentioning his sons and how they've chosen his music.

It's a bit reminiscent of a few years ago when everybody was mentioning their grandparents. Just a different generation now.

Calendargirl Mon 01-Nov-21 06:59:14

I suppose some of them mention their wives and children because they know without the total support of their partner, they just couldn’t compete. They must be left for weeks being the main carer, especially if the celeb also has a full time job.

I prefer that to hearing about Nan and Grandad who met whilst dancing in Blackpool 60 years ago, (sob).
