So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

I think they're welcome to the cash. The effort and hours required are astonishing and the courage required to perform in an arena so far out of one's comfort zone are hard to calculate. A!so the dragging out of the execution line is unbearable for me so undoubtedly double that for them. I'm so grateful for their courage as I love strictly. Gives me huge p!easure.

Yes, the right pair went through to next week.

& no, I'm not on Twitter either!

I love Strictly & would hate to know the results before it's broadcast.

Rhys did a perfect dance-off, didn't he? It was no contest as to who would leave.

I avoid anything that will tell me the result in advance.... but then I'm not on Twitter anyway.

Rhys should never have been in the dance-off. He had such
style and élan in that American Smooth and Shirley thinks he's a 'rising star'. However, it has often happened in the past that voters think that a particular dancer is good enough to get lots of votes and so by-passes them for another. I did vote for him though!

No Twitter for me neither.

Josianne Sun 24-Oct-21 19:35:33

Josianne

That's surprising.

I meant Rhys, not Twitter.

Sweetpeasue Sun 24-Oct-21 19:32:45

Me neither Kittylester

Josianne Sun 24-Oct-21 19:31:59

That's surprising.

I think the leaks now on Twitter have spoilt Sunday evenings Strictly. It’s difficult to get enthusiastic about the programme whilst already knowing the results. I wonder what thrill they get out of leaking the results?

Well, I don't see twitter.

Sweetpeasue Sun 24-Oct-21 19:30:41

What! Perhaps viewers thought they were safe.

^Just found out contestants get paid large sums of money - I had no idea^

Oh Kali did you honestly think they do it just to learn to dance? No, it’s to earn money and boost their profile, many careers are revived after being on Strictly.

Learning to dance a bonus maybe.

Well yes, I did. To boost their career seemed to be enough.

Tara and Rachel have the most beautiful backs in those videos.

Josianne Sun 24-Oct-21 17:28:02

I'm guessing MayBeMaw that as she has two school aged children who are potentially covid spreaders, she had nothing much to lose doing Strictly. But yes, her health is of concern.

^I am not sure if Judi will be well enough to return next week- rehearsals are gruelling.^

It seemed to me that Judi was struggling before she caught Covid as she always seemed very breathless.

Would it be construed as unkind or “fat shaming” to suggest I would be quite worried to catch Covid if I were Judi as she is a large lady - one of the contra-indications for those who test positive.
This is not meant unkindly but certain groups including ethnic minorities have been proved to be more at risk.

TillyTrotter Sun 24-Oct-21 16:52:32

This was a fab Rumba too - Kara & Artem. They became an “item” by the end of the series. No wonder it was intense.

Gosh adam's dance..,didn't like watching that at all.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Oct-21 14:40:11

Thanks for that reminder DanniRae which made me decide to watch it again - it truly is f a b u l o u s !!!!!!!

DanniRae Sun 24-Oct-21 12:10:59

In my opinion the best Rumba ever was 12 years ago when Vincent and Rachel Stevens danced it to "You do Something to Me" It can still be seen on Youtube and I often watch it. It definitely does something to me blush!!

Calendargirl Sun 24-Oct-21 11:31:11

I agree about the choice of music. If it’s a song I like, i.e. Always A Woman, then I view the dance more favourably. Not a good basis to judge it on, I know, but….

Sweetpeasue Sun 24-Oct-21 09:59:53

That's it exactly Sparklefizz I find if the music is right I'm inclined to rate the dancing higher. Whoever picks the music often appears to pick contemporary pop songs which doesn't do the dance any favours, especially if it's a gentle waltz. I expect it's an attempt to attract younger viewers.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Oct-21 09:36:09

I'm not keen on the Rumba either, Sweetpeasue, but I love the Tango, particularly the Argentine Tango, and AJ was brilliant I thought.

I'm sometimes surprised by the music to many of the dances. Who chooses it, I wonder? It can either enhance or distract.

Sweetpeasue Sun 24-Oct-21 09:34:06

Yes I too think Ugo should go as his performance was definitely the weakest and he did appear to be struggling to move his hips most likely to do with back injury. I'm not particularly keen on the Rumba, even when done by professionals. It just seems to be restricted to slow strutting and swaying, very repetitive movements. Love the Tango but it really needs the right music.

Josianne Sun 24-Oct-21 08:53:17

Sparklefizz I stand by what I said after his dance last night, Ugo definitely to go for me. Maybe up against Dan?

TillyTrotter Sun 24-Oct-21 08:50:50

Might be Ugo and Sara in the dance off. It should be 2 who were near the bottom of the judge’s leader board - although we often get a shock elimination at about this point in the Competition.
