Yes - finally. About to start tonight. 7 episodes. This is in my top three of great crime drama series. The Bridge is second with Shetland third.

The phone will be on silent and MrM had better not interrupt my pleasure. I think he's tempted to watch it though.

Jed Mercurio never ceases to come up with a great story line. Series 3 was probably be best so far for me.

Thought the photo was of the second DNA owner. Ryan? The deputy chief constable?
She threw a wine glass at a picture of her mother.

I just went frame by frame through the last scenes on iplayer. I have no life at all.... I think the photo was just Davidson!

It was grin.

The other photo wasn't visible to us.

Tommy Hunter was the leader of the OCG group in the early series. He was Scottish, like Jo.

Just saw a high hairline, couldn't work out if it was a male or female! Going to be a long week waiting to find out!

I just love the waiting though don’t you - deferred gratification. The excitement of waking up on Sunday morning and thinking it’s tonight ??

Thanks Doodledog!

Could Ryan be their love-child, given up for adoption?

Atqui Sun 11-Apr-21 22:38:44

And the commissioner is definitely dodgy

Jo isn't old enough to be Ryan's mother - I think she might be Hunter's daughter.

I will probably have a different theory this time next week though grin.

Callistemon Sun 11-Apr-21 22:41:18

She looks at least 40, I think - well old enough to be the mother of a 18 year old.

Actually, I think Kelly MacDonald is 45.

Doodledog Sun 11-Apr-21 22:47:26

Oh well, maybe she is - it's certainly got everyone thinking!

The mysterious relative could also be Corbett, though - his widow has had a role in this series, and he did seem to be 'in deep' in the last one.

Atqui Sun 11-Apr-21 22:47:49

Those two police officers in prison are gonna have a very nasty time .

Callistemon Sun 11-Apr-21 22:50:39

That's the problem with DNA - you never know when it might pop up and incriminate you grin

Atqui Sun 11-Apr-21 22:51:08

How many more episodes?

tanith Sun 11-Apr-21 22:54:41

3 more episodes, oh no what are we gonna do when it’s over ?

overthehill Sun 11-Apr-21 23:13:39

Love it but hate it when they refer to old series.....I can never remember what happened

Curlywhirly Sun 11-Apr-21 23:58:47

Steve definitely said the DNA related to a 'he' (I had the subtitles on!). Lots of speculation that it's Tommy Hunter, can't remember who he was, and which series he was from ?

Parsley3 Sun 11-Apr-21 23:59:10

What a cracking episode tonight. The suspense was unbearable as that convoy was speeding along and we just knew that something terrible was about to happen. And then the DNA! However, Ted is determined to follow the letter of the law ..THE LETTER and he will.

Curlywhirly Mon 12-Apr-21 00:00:41

Oh, and the picture was definitely Jo Davidson.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 12-Apr-21 07:03:36

My vote is for Hunter.

Just read somewhere that in one if the earlier series Buckles was seen playing golf with Hunter. Can anyone remember that?

I’m lucky to remember from week to week.

What I need is a time chart and one linking all the characters.

I think last night was one of the very best episodes.

Calendargirl Mon 12-Apr-21 07:09:00

Am I the only one to think that Chris Lomax, (think that’s his surname) sounds uncannily like ‘The Caddy’ when he speaks?

tanith Mon 12-Apr-21 07:43:39

TommyHunter was series 1 and 2 he was the OCG boss who blackmailed Tony Gates and recruited ‘Dot’ Matthew Cotton, Tommy was killed by a copper who was also OCG.

Iam64 Mon 12-Apr-21 07:45:32

This would be a first for me but, I may rewatch last night’s episode in preparation for next Sunday ?

Jaxjacky Mon 12-Apr-21 07:56:13

WW2 we need a big white board with post-its and bits of coloured string!
It really is such a good programme, love it.

tanith

Thanks for that tanith. But if she is related to Tommy Hunter or any other dead person, how could that be a reason for Jo to be blackmailed into acting for the OCG? They are dead, so she would have no need to protect them; and a police officer being related to a criminal is not against the law. Surely Jo's relation is/was still alive (could it be Lakewell, Jo being blackmailed to ensure he was kept safe in prison?) So confusing!

Pittcity Mon 12-Apr-21 08:19:35

Dryden is Scottish???

Other theories include Nigel Morton. Neil Morrissey was rumoured to be making a reappearance in this series.

Pittcity Mon 12-Apr-21 08:20:35

...and is it the end of Hastings and AC12?
