Yes - finally. About to start tonight. 7 episodes. This is in my top three of great crime drama series. The Bridge is second with Shetland third.

The phone will be on silent and MrM had better not interrupt my pleasure. I think he's tempted to watch it though.

Jed Mercurio never ceases to come up with a great story line. Series 3 was probably be best so far for me.

A complete anti climax.

merlotgran Sun 02-May-21 22:09:12

A big let down after all the build up.

Grannybags Sun 02-May-21 22:10:03

I agree, what an anti-climax

Alegrias1 Sun 02-May-21 22:10:13

I liked it.... ?

No-one makes mugs of AC-10.

Finding the box that tied up all the previous murders was too neat. The episode went downhill from there.
I thought they were suppressing giggles in the glass box interview.

I expected to be flamed for saying it was an anti climax but you have beaten me to it. Too much posing too.

Sar53 Sun 02-May-21 22:16:56

Disappointment here too, we certainly couldn't see Buckles as H. Not sure that there is anything left for another series. A bit of an anti climax.

Emily49 Sun 02-May-21 22:17:12

It was as if the writer had just run out of steam.....confused. A missed opportunity for a dramatic twist at the end.

May7 Sun 02-May-21 22:18:09

Yes they do grin

Marydoll Sun 02-May-21 22:18:55

I was disappointed too, but wonder if the ending is leaving it open for another series. ?

Nannylovesshopping Sun 02-May-21 22:19:26

So disappointed with this too, Joe, don’t bother to write another series ☹️

May7 Sun 02-May-21 22:22:39

That was in answer to No one makes mugs of AC12

Clearly my timing was off confused

annsixty Sun 02-May-21 22:23:29

Such a let down but open to another series.
A lot of hype with no answer.
Buckles was too young to have organised all that from years ago.

Doodledog Sun 02-May-21 22:24:36

It was very flat. The only good bit was the speech about the importance of truth in high office.

Well I need to have a good think about this. I was really disappointed snd then began to think it was saying something really profound about the state of Britain ( not just the police). That what in a way we hope is organised well though out masterminded corruption is just sheer half arsed banal incompetence by a bunch of bumbling no hopers that have and will continue to fool us into thinking they are so much more than they are snd thus will continue to have powerf over us ( and breathe) Well it’s either that or I’ve wasted the last decade of my life ??

Atqui Sun 02-May-21 22:30:52

How could buckles order kates murder if he was in prison?

Atqui Sun 02-May-21 22:31:24

Just a thought that popped into my head

Oops, missed my own comment there, susiewoozie. I was going to say I agree with you, in thinking I needed to ponder it more, maybe it was deliberately flat for a reason. Though, on reflection, I think generally organised crime and corruption is just that - organised. Tight, professional, not bumbling and full of holes

Maggiemaybe Sun 02-May-21 22:37:13

Well I enjoyed it! Either I’m easily pleased or the G & Ts have blunted my critical faculties (easier to type than to say when you’ve had a couple). I was glad to see the three of them leaving in that lift safe and sound at the end. Though a bit concerned that there might be an armed OCG unit waiting on the ground floor.

Washerwoman Sun 02-May-21 22:39:34

I'm in the minority.I still found it very tense. And more believable. Basically several police officers have risen through the ranks over the years whilst being corrupt with Buckles the latest and last to be uncovered and yet still the public remain unaware of the extent.Carmichael follows Osborne lead. OCGs probably don't operate under one head guy but splinter off relying on the likes of Buckles and taking out those who threaten their identities and operations.
And I'm glad Hastings remained,Kate and Steve weren't bent did were there for each other.Still think its been one of the best things on TV in recent years.

Doodledog Sun 02-May-21 22:39:55

I thought that (as well as ramming home the message about the importance of truth in high office) it was saying that corruption can be disguised as incompetence and people won't notice.

NanKate Sun 02-May-21 22:42:40

I wanted Carmichael to be H or whatever the baddie was called. She played a blinder in that part.

Another disappointed viewer here. ?

NanKate Sun 02-May-21 22:44:19

Kate’s hair style was fab.
