It would be I interesting to know how they got into pottery. I hadn't realised that Jodie was a nurse. She makes the most beautiful pots.
(Two had to go to make up for the week when no one went. )

Anyone else think the wrong potter bit the dust tonight?

I was surprised Sal went but she didn’t follow the brief. Wanted to make her own version of the pots. Not the point. Got too big for her boots
Oooops! Was t I supposed to say the name ? Sorry ?
I think/know that it's very hard to judge.
At this late stage, the quality of the work was so good across the 6 so as Casdon has said, they had to use other criteria like sticking to the brief.
The 2 who left will have made enough of a mark to be remembered anyway.
I once was asked to judge fancy dress costume at a children's Halloween party. There were a number of wonderful little witches so I chose the one whose front teeth had fallen out as she looked so authentic!
At the start of this week's programme the potters were told at least one potter would go home so that should have given them a warning that they had to follow the instructions. However, both Alon and Sal thought they would ignore the brief so, quite rightly, they had to go. I was delighted for Peter. His pots were lovely and deserved their place in the Potter of the Week gallery.

Only one person should have gone. I was shouting at the tele. The best potter (I think you all know who I mean). Should not have gone.
She didn't follow the brief. She said herself that she wanted to make a Sal pot and not the one wanted by the judges. The judges did mention at the start that at least one potter would go home. It makes the right number for the semi-final as there was one week when nobody went home.
I liked Sal and thought she was a brilliant potter but I do think she was a bit over confident and saw herself as the winner
Peters was good last night but he’s not consistent he can be very good or very poor
I d like to see Adam win
I actually Googled Native American Acoma pottery to see some images and the situation is not as clear cut as they make out. Although none have a lip like Sal's there are a few variations including one that looks like a frill. It's not a regular thing but if variations are allowed her going was so wrong.
Oh dear my 2 favourites ? lost interest in it now.
I was interested in the new kiln girl, Rose, so just Googled her.

By not following the brief the two potters made their work impossible to judge. A rooky mistake for the young man but Sal should have known better. She voted herself off. A pity as I had her marked out to win.
Alon both wandered from the brief (in spite of the fact that when he was doing it the weepy judge more or less told him so!) and his decoration was poor, so I think he had to go.
I had Sal marked down as the winner right from the start. I wonder what possessed her to meander away from the brief? I bet she is kicking herself poor lady.
However I do see their problem. On the one hand they have a brief, but on the other they are being encouraged to put something of themselves into their work and develop and identity of their own.
Ah but that’s the skill lucky they have to leave their own mark WHILST still following the brief Last night the individuality would have to come mainly from the decoration
It’s the same if they are asked to make some 40 cams high a 38 or 42 would be acceptable but if they made it 20 cams high they d have to expect to go
From the beginning I’ve always thought Jodie would be the winner, waiting to be proved wrong on that next, she may go next week!
I agree Bluebelle it comes down to the decoration and even then the judges found it hard to choose between the brave freehand of Adam and Peter and Jodie's more precise drawing.
Oh they are all very good allrounders. Any one of them could end up the champion.
How much do you bet that the semi-final will be porcelain? It is notoriously difficult to throw with.
Thank you all so much for not divulging who went, although I know it’s a woman and two have gone! There just isn’t time to watch it live on Sunday night as there’s so much else I want to watch. I’ll watch it tonight with great interest.
I posted too soon! Just seen several people HAVE given the names, damn!
Never mind Luckylegs, it’s still fun to watch and some of the designs are superb.
I do agree with BlueBelle that we should really be able to discuss the who, what and where after the programme. A bit like match of the day ‘if you don’t want to know the score, look away now’.
I do envy their talent.
Yes, I agree, my own fault. It’s just that so many people had been so careful for so many replies and then ...... boom! I’ll still enjoy it I’m sure. I really thought Sal was definitely going to be the winner!
Wasn’t getting at you Luckylegs, just giving an opinion.
I thought Sal was going to be a winner or at least in the final. Maybe she became a bit over confident. At least the rest will have learnt the lesson to stick to the brief.
It’s very annoying if you are with a group of people and want to discuss a TV programme , when someone says they have recorded it so please don’t talk about it. As someone upthread said , if you don’t want spoilers , don’t look at the thread til you have watched it.It must have been very difficult to chuck out such a talented potter , but she didn’t really follow the brief las week either. Her sea creature did not dominate the piece as requested.

I agree. Why go on a thread discussing a programme you haven't seen if you don't want to know what happens?
If I spot a TV review about something I'm looking forward to watching at a later date I quickly I scroll past.
Luckylegs has already said it was her own fault, lets just focus on the programme.

Sal decorated her pots to reflect her Cornish life so she did put something of herself into her work. She is a very accomplished artist. Such a shame she went off brief with the shape.
