Is on channel 5. smile
It looks like a collection of her work from the early years to her later ones.

She was only 62y when she died. RIP lovely lady.
She had a sad, lonely childhood. She once said ‘I feel sorry for that little girl, looking back’.

MissAdventure Sun 20-Dec-20 22:54:23

It was an awful shock, but then she was a private person.

She left a legacy of classic lines though... "spank me on the bottom with a woman's weekly". smile

EllanVannin Sun 20-Dec-20 22:54:35

So sad. We'll never see her like again.

Kate1949 Sun 20-Dec-20 22:56:34

Dinner Ladies was great.

EllanVannin Sun 20-Dec-20 23:02:33

I sat for two days watching all the episodes of Dinner Ladies.
Just brilliant.

Kate1949 Sun 20-Dec-20 23:07:31

Her daughter is an opera singer. She has a beautiful voice.

MissAdventure Sun 20-Dec-20 23:13:15

I was just wondering about her children, and what they do.
I never knew.
I'm off to google.

Kate1949 Sun 20-Dec-20 23:21:13

Grace Durham is her daughter

MissAdventure Sun 20-Dec-20 23:28:28

I've just been on a magical mystery tour of the internet and found her daughter. smile

We went to see her husband The Great Soprendo at the theatre. Looking back I’ve got no idea why we went. Maybe he was part of another show? We used to go to The Sooty Show every year. Perhaps he was on that. (this is going to bother me now)

Grannynannywanny Mon 21-Dec-20 00:16:37

MayBee70 I took my children to see the Great Suprendo and I think he was on the same billing as Keith Harris and Orville when we saw him. I think in the early 80’s.

WOODMOUSE49 Mon 21-Dec-20 00:36:47

Saw her twice live in the 90s. . Front row, second time. We were in stitches all the way through. Just watching her walk on, she was hilarious.

Loved Acorn Antiques, still do!
She was brilliant.

Dorsetcupcake61 Mon 21-Dec-20 07:41:12

Enjoy Dinner Ladies Missadventure. I'm quite envious of the treat you have in store ?

DanniRae Mon 21-Dec-20 07:43:49

Loved, loved, loved her. From the Ballad of Freda and Barry - through the shoe shop sketch - to the episode where she goes camping with Celia Imrie and Celia finds out Victoria "Was'nt always in tents" (and so would know how to erect their tent) but "Aways intense" to the sad but wonderful "Housewife 49"
As someone has already said we will never see her like again sad

PollyDolly Mon 21-Dec-20 07:56:30

I didn't watch last night, OH was engrossed in a film, but aim to watch on catchup very soon. Victoria was a very talented entertainer and actor.

Sparklefizz Mon 21-Dec-20 11:19:06

I absolutely loved her. Only have to hear the intro to the Ballad of Freda and Barry to be trying to sing it all day. How on earth she crammed in such quick phrasing while also playing the piano I will never know!

She was fabulously unique. I must catch up with all of this as we definitely need a good laugh at the moment.

Antonia Mon 21-Dec-20 11:26:52

I loved Victoria Wood's sketches. She was never greedy over the best lines, and would give them to other people. Such a shame, she had so much more to give.

MissAdventure Mon 21-Dec-20 11:28:12

Yes, every one of the people who worked with her said that.

Chardy Mon 21-Dec-20 12:08:45

Interesting that we all feel her humour has not aged. She made me laugh in the 1980s, and she still does.

MayBee70 Mon 21-Dec-20 12:26:02

She also had the knack of using talented people to work with: people not well known at the time. Using good actors that could do comedy rather than comedians. Look how great an actress Anne Reid is. Why is it, though, that so many people that bring such joy to others seem to die far too young.

PollyDolly Wed 23-Dec-20 16:41:35

Just watched this on Demand5, absolutely brilliant!

Willow500 Wed 23-Dec-20 16:46:35

We've seen a few programmes about Victoria Wood - she was just brilliantly talented in so many ways and Dinner Ladies still makes us laugh. Taken too soon sad

Puzzler61 Wed 23-Dec-20 16:47:36

And her “Acorn Antiques” DanniRae. She touched everything she did with her funny brilliance. I have all the eps of Dinner Ladies on DVD. They never fail to make me laugh.

Puzzler61 Wed 23-Dec-20 16:48:59

Sorry just noticed, suzette added Acorn Antiques already.
I saw it on stage in York, it was excellent.
