Semi Finals already ....... !
2 dances each ..... !

EllanVannin Sun 13-Dec-20 06:24:01

It's not been the best Strictly this time round. That's my personal view anyway.

Kittye Sun 13-Dec-20 07:00:42

I agree with Marilla. Ranvir, Harvey and Maisie for final. I love the energy of the youngsters, but also love how Ranvir has grown in confidence.

phoenix Sun 13-Dec-20 07:17:55

Why did Hrvy seem to think he was doing a dance relating to robot vacuum cleaners?

He kept referring to a "roomba"

Calendargirl Sun 13-Dec-20 07:41:28

Have always voted for Ranvir, but didn’t last night.

Her jive was poor, and thought the first dance was a bit safe and lacklustre.

Puzzler61 Sun 13-Dec-20 07:47:48

I’d like to see HRVY, Maisie, and Bill in the final. Ranvir had a personal ‘journey’ but Bill’s dance ‘journey’ with Oti as his teacher has been a triumph too (especially at his age).

Chardy Sun 13-Dec-20 08:58:15

Bill Bailey is 55, he's not Captain Tom. (Pamela Stephenson did well in her early 60s)

Marilla Sun 13-Dec-20 09:00:48

I agree with EllanVannin. It hasn’t been the best Strictly this year with regards to the standard of many dancers.
However, it has been pure escapism in this year of gloom and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. (Other than Jamie and his professional partner).

Grandmabatty Sun 13-Dec-20 09:07:10

EllanVannin I completely agree with you. Perhaps some of the better professionals who excelled in teaching have gone, but the quality of the dancing isn't as good as some previous years. Of course, if a celebrity hasn't any dance training, you won't know how good they can get. One of the best of the current professionals, to my mind, is Oti. She works to make her partner look good, not herself.

Puzzler61 Sun 13-Dec-20 09:11:10

I don’t think I could have done 10 hours of dance training a day for 3 months at 55 years of age Chardy, although of course you are right in saying Bill is not 100.

Lucca Sun 13-Dec-20 09:18:32

I only watch odd bits of strictly but doesanyone agree that Tess is a bit of a waste of space ? Totally lacking in any style or personality. I’d like them to change to somebody wittier like joe Lycett maybe ?

Puzzler61 Sun 13-Dec-20 09:32:28

Tess seems to have a lifetime contract. She’s like marmite and many folks don’t rate her on Strictly.
I’d like to see Matt Baker in Tess’s place and as he was a past contestant he’d have a good idea how the contestants were feeling.

Sparklefizz Sun 13-Dec-20 09:49:09

Aaarrrgh, not Joe Lycett. He's so irritating that I had to stop watching Sewing Bee.

Sparklefizz Sun 13-Dec-20 09:53:09

Maisie said she had had dance training at stage school when she was first chosen to appear, but not ballroom. Ranvir, Bill and Jamie have had no dance training at all, so they have had to start from scratch and their progress has been hard won.

Sarahmob Sun 13-Dec-20 09:54:26

Puzzler I second Matt Baker, I think he’d do a great job.

Ellianne Sun 13-Dec-20 10:08:19

I think phoenix that might be how you pronounce it in Spanish? I do, but I might be wrong. Can any Spanish speakers help?
Harvey's partner Jaenette is from Miami, so it might be her American pronunciation that has rubbed off on Hrvy. She is a professional Cuban dancer.
Roooombah or Rumba? I like the idea of hoovering with a glass of Bacardi and coke!

Lucca Sun 13-Dec-20 10:13:16

Looks like he’s marmite too then ! Ok not him I just meant someone with some wit and variety in their conversation! “they’re on their feet “ is about her limit.
Sorry feeling extra low this morning so possibly being a bit snarly.

Lucca Sun 13-Dec-20 10:13:59

I’m sure it would be rooomba.

Calendargirl Sun 13-Dec-20 10:15:51

Oh, not Matt Baker please!

Beauregard Sun 13-Dec-20 10:20:37

Sounds like I'm in the minority but I don't mind Tess at all. I also like Jamie, although I think HRVY should win. I'll go back to my lonesome corner now.....

Callistemon Sun 13-Dec-20 10:26:20

Sounds like I'm in the minority but I don't mind Tess at all.

I'll join you in the corner, Beauregard
She seems a friendly, pleasant girl, not shouting "me, me, me, look at me" like such presenters as Zoe Ball and there is absolutely nothing wrong with her accent!

Callistemon Sun 13-Dec-20 10:27:32

like such presenters as Zoe Ball
Or Joe "it's all about me" Lycett

Charleygirl5 Sun 13-Dec-20 10:33:33

I felt so sorry for Ranvir - she has done so well until last night and I have a feeling she has come to the end of the road. I would like Maisie to win with Bill coming second. I am not a fan of Harvey or Jamie.

Lucca Sun 13-Dec-20 10:38:08

Totally agree ...I could never watch anything with Zoe ball in it.
Its not tess’s accent I mind by the way !

Soozikinzi Sun 13-Dec-20 10:39:18

I’ve enjoyed the CGI - computer generated imagery as well this year I thought the snow globe was beautiful! I think the standard has been great and am very appreciative of how difficult it must’ve been to set it all up this year . My favourite professional are Jeanette and Karen and I also think Karen looked great with dark hair ! I think Jamie and Ranvir have really shown progress but I like them all so I don’t mind who wins . A previous male winner with a good sense of humour might give a different angle alongside Tess and Claudia as others have said .

Lucretzia Sun 13-Dec-20 10:40:36

I think Ranvir will go

And I say roomba
