Strictly Come Dancing

Complaints and suggestions can be sent to BBC but it doesn't look like it has much impact. None as far as I can see.

The beeb is never wrong, see also the feedback programme with Samira Ahmed. Never an apology or a change of tack, nothing in response to its - er - valued consumers.

I am probably the only person who dosn’t know how they manage to do this show as you aren’t supposed to be so close to others. Was it recorded before any lockdowns? We usually watch bits of it and DH keeps asking me how they have done it and I just don’t know. Could some kind person please enlighten me.

Nankate MNEK was the singer with Joel Corry the DJ. I love that song reminds me of my clubbing days got to love a bit of club dance music.

I remember the original "Come Dancing" on tv hosted, I think, by Terry Wogan, for a while anyway. I've no interest in the new format, it's a whole new concept and doesn't really compare with the old show which was a national dancing contest wasn't it?

No Ide who he is but I think HRVY might do well. I'm hoping the female pairing show them how it's done as well, reminds me of my early ballroom lessons when girls danced together. We also had a female teacher who took lead?

Does anyone know who the singer was in the group? He had blue eye shadow, a thin moustache and gave Craig Revel Horwood the eye at the end of the song. I quite liked his voice but found his appearance a bit odd, but I’m just old fashioned.

I love Claudia for not being pushed into clingy tight dresses etc. She has her own stylist as I presume all other presenters do. Her salary was quoted earlier on, so sorry to correct someone, but her salary is for all her BBC work not just the show. 12 other presenters earn more than her. Zoe, now she does the `Radio 2 morning show, earns £1,360,000-£1,364,999 for all her BBC work.

Back on track with the thread. Could be rooting for Bill or Nicola but time with tell. Enjoyed the show last night.

Judging by most of the comments on here, the endless chit chat is not enjoyed by the vast majority, or the constant ‘padding out’ of the programme.

Surely this must feed back to the producers, and a more streamlined show would be better.

It can’t be just GN’ers who think this way.

I was reared on women-only dancing. All the menfolk were at war and I remember my Mum, her sisters and her cousins regularly doing this.

Oh my goodness what a lot of negative comments from some Gransnetters. People are so hard to please nowadays it seems.
If you like Strictly then watch it and enjoy it - as I will. If you don't like it then ^don't watch it and spare us all the moaning!!^

Did watch it last night, I’m looking forward to seeing how Bill Bailey gets on, Claudia was dressed like a quality street wrapper lol All good fun, can’t wait until next Saturday

I watched the debut show, and I shan't be watching any more. I got completely fed up with the constant reminders that they were adhering to social distancing, and I got fed up with the over-done histrionics of the so-called 'celebrities', whoever they are. Plus, and I know it isn't PC to say so, but I find same sex dancing unpalatable. I'v been a Strictly addict ever since it started, as I love dance. My parents used to let me stay up late to watch Come Dancing when I was a schoolgirl. However, I feel the show has now reached its sell-by date, much as I shall miss watching it on a Saturday night.

I went to a Girls only school where 2 girls dancing was the norm.When I was small my mother and her friends went to church socials that were "ladies nights" so women danced with each other there too.

Also bored with all the chit chat and daft sequences in between the actual dances, unnecessary padding making the programme far longer than it needs to be. I wish they'd changed the format somewhat.

Most people I know would agree with you, everyone finds these sequences annoying. Last year I recorded the show so I could fast forward the chit chat bits. I'll be doing the same this year. Also hope they don't still pretend to give the results on Sunday evening when the results are online late Saturday night.

Would have enjoyed it more if they hadn’t kept repeating how they were strictly following coved restrictions. (Are the BBC frightened they’ll get sued ? ) Once or twice would have been enough. Went and had a bath and then watched the final group dance.
It is better without a noisy screaming audience.

I only watch when there are celebrities who I recognise, I think they are scraping the bottom of the barrel with this lot so won’t be watching.

I missed the original format of pairing up - but only because I seem to have a talent for guessing which celebrity will get which professional. I was slightly unnerved by how different everything was, much like I am when I go out of the house at the moment! I adore Claudia but did comment to my son that she looked like a little girl wearing pyjamas that were a size too big so that she could grow into them. I too was disappointing that Anton had been given the turkey again, but he isn’t getting any younger, maybe he will appreciate a shorter run this year. Overall though I was just really happy that it was back on and appreciate the work they’ve had to put into it, in these challenging times.

I haven’t watched it since my husband died four years ago. Since then, my sister and I have spent Christmas and New Year in Egypt so would miss the final.

Dancing not my forte, although mother was an amateur exhibition dancer. I did not inherit her talent. Husband, at one point, taught ballroom dancing so I could always ask him for opinion and, sometimes, even what dance they were doing!

I was worried about the two women dancing together but, now I have seen them together, I can’t wait to see what they do.
