I have just watched a fascinating film called A United Kingdom which tells the story of the heir to the Bechuanaland (now Botswana) throne who was in England studying law when he fell in love with a white woman, and married her.
This caused a major diplomatic saga involving S Africa and the UK government. The chicanery and dishonesty by Westminster was shocking.
It is based on a true story, and set me off researching some of our - frankly shameful - history of involvement in Africa.
Well worth a watch - I found it on Netflix.
