Just saw yesterday that there’s a new series, and, with the exception of the cricket commentator and the actress from Coronation Street, I had heard of them all!
Britt Ekland should have stayed away from the plastic surgeons, but they seem quite interesting.
Just checked the cast list and can't find Stanley, so it's possible I was having a nightmare!
Was it my imagination, or did Stanley Johnson (father of Boris) appear in the first episode? If he did, he must have escaped - he didn't seem to be either enjoying or appreciating the experience - or been ejected.
Loved how fussy blowers was re a particular shade of yellow/mango fir one of his shirts. I shed a tear when I saw how much he was revered in India by the cricket lovers.
The “relationship” between Britt and Duncan is hilarious And I agree that deep down he is terrified!
Barbara Dickson seems happy to chill around the lovely villa. I wonder when she will have an adventure?
I am looking forward to the next episode.
It’s episode 3 on Thursday. It’s my programme of the week. I love it!
Barbara Dickson and Zandra Rhodes are my favourite ladies. Britt is highly confident and showy but I do like her smile and she can be self-depreciating which is quite charming.
Susie is a bit boring for me. She’s like ‘wallpaper’. The kind of person I don’t like to end up sitting next to at a gathering, especially whilst hearing a shriek of laughter from across the room or garden ! Something upset her about the age of 40y which is why she took up Buddhist chanting every morning she said, to calm and focus herself.
DH has joined me watching this series as we're in lockdown and he missed most of the others. He's a huge cricket fan so as soon as he heard Blowers was in it that made it.And what a lovely man he seems to be.What a voice!
Having listened to Henry’s beautiful voice in his cricket commentaries quite a few times in car the with DH, I was interested to learn about the terrible accident that cut short his cricket career. It sounded very serious with lots of operations and plastic surgery. He seems such a genuine, mild mannered gentleman.
Brit is so self-obsessed - really not an attractive character at all.
Love this programme! Brit is totally off her rocker.
Barbara is lovely and naturally beautiful.
Zandra is wacky.
Cricket guy is eccentric and I love him.
Duncan is ‘up himself’.
Comedian, not very funny.
Great TV though!
I think Britt may have selective hearing Jane?. If she doesn’t behave it wouldn’t surprise me if Duncan’s wife turned up to have a wee word in her ear!
He went on about how devoted he was to his new 39 year old wife who he can't bear to be parted from for one say. (So devoted that he happily set off for a month to India?) I think that particular speech was for Britt to overhear.
Haven’t taken to nasty nick and Britt got on my nerves from the get go. Has to be the centre of attraction. I noticed she stopped clinging to Duncan eventually and wonder if he told her she was barking up the wrong tree. How not to grow old gracefully! Barbara not a showy type at all just being herself as are Sue and Zandra, love her joie de vivre style. I would love to read their minds re Britt’s performance. The OBE quip was so good.
I think he'll have his work cut out Jane10!
I thought the lowest was the BEM then MBE. I'm sure Britt isn't in the running for any award. Duncan's done his bit for business and also for charity. It'll be interesting to watch him trying to evade her clutches!
Britt is far too full of herself for my liking. When talking to Duncan she patronisingly said he should get an award, ‘the lowest one’. He quietly replied that if she meant the OBE he already had one which was very effective in putting her in her place. The excessive eye makeup is very ageing IMO, subtle makeup would be much kinder.
What a lovely programme - heartily enjoying our generation living life joyful and India is so special. Last year had the chance to visit and fell in love with the place and the people. So glad I finally got there- sad to think I may not get back there again - time running out! Armchair travelling at least for a while now. Keep safe x
We never heard hoe Duncan seemed to get there in no time yet it was a long overnight train journey for the others.
I’m of the opinion Duncan took fright at the thought of the train trip . Perhaps he had visions that the group might end up one bed short, and Britt would drag him into her solitary bunk.
I think under the dour Scottish image, he’s a bit flattered but quite scared!
I’m hoping Blowers will show us all his new colourful shirts.
tanith - Also smiled when referring to her looks she said ‘I wouldn’t scare the children would I?’ - exactly as I did too!
She was describing how she likes to take care of her looks so as not to scare the children. Gosh - she lacks self-insight! - I find her lips scary and I am not a child!!! And for goodness sake leave that poor man alone!
I agree that it would be good to focus on the quieter ones - I love Barbara Dixon's voice and she seems a lovely person.
It's a great programme with a good cast. I've really enjoyed them all up to now. Barbara Dickson is a lovely person but poor Brit is a sad one, though her hair is still lovely for her age.
Can just about tolerate " Nasty Nick " and Duncan but they could prove themselves, we'll have to see.
I felt sorry for the poor guy with the "Delhi belly ", that must be awful when you're away.
Love the old boy and Zandra, genuine and no side to them.
Britt Ekland has never shied away from the fact that "in her 50's" she sought out lip and other injections which ruined her looks. The stuff used was permanent and only in its early stages in cosmetic surgery. It's such a shame because the lower half of her face is very noticeable now and not in a good way.
I should imagine that being flirty at her age makes her feel a lot better and less invisible, but really don't think she is interested in finding a man - well, maybe a very rich one. Bannatyne is rich but supposedly very happy with his very much younger Wife. I don't feel he comes across as too try hard, but if he toned down the solid and very strange hair colour, he'd look so much better.
Love Zandra - for her slightly bonkers attitude. Hopefully there will be no contrived bickering or unpleasantness in what is an enjoyable programme. It's good to see a very mixed bunch of characters enjoying the sights and sounds of a lovely part of India.
I don't think Duncan ever intended to rough it on the over night train - I expect with his money he was transported there by helicopter. I for one don't blame him - that train ride looked awful.
Loving the programme and how well they are all getting on....so far
I watched the last half of last night’s episode waiting for the news. What a super programme.
Duncan’s hair is just weird. Why?
Blowers is an absolute star.
I was being facetious Jane10 ?
James Bond’s granny? Well, that’s an idea. ??
I thought she made the astrologer’s job so easy, ‘I want to know about future work’, so hey presto, suddenly the stars and planets aligned with lots of job prospects.
??⭐️
Calendar girl she'll not be getting more work as a Bond girl any time soon. I meant what work was she referring to at the astrologers. She said she wanted more work. James Bond's granny maybe? Miaow!!
