I thought Enid Blyton was really boring when I was a kid, but I have enjoyed watching this as a nostalgic experience. There’s so much I recognise.

Oh I loved Mallory Towers, I may well watch it, I'd like to be transported back to aged 10 or 11. Damn it! I've no Sherbet Lemons many a school summer holiday I'd be in the garden with a bag of those and a Blyton library book. Bliss I was easily pleased.

I may have to wait for DH to go and do his jigsaw puzzle

I've only ever read the books. I don't think I'd like to see a televised version somehow. Not sure. I might give it a look.

I started teaching English in 1976. Four years later, at a Parents' Evening, I met the parents of a youngster whose step-father was an artist/illustrator.

Our discussion focused on how vocabulary relied on how much young people read. Their daughter was in my Year 8 English class, as it was then.

He had just been commissioned to design the front covers of the 1980's reprint of "The Mallory Towers" Enid Blyton books and used his step-daughter as the model for the designs. She was a lovely, kind and gentle child and went on to be a fashion feature writer for "The Sunday Telegraph" and also author of several books. If anyone would like to read one of her books..."Green, the new Black" please pm me.

Just to be clear. As a young child in the fifties my favourite reading was Arthur Mee' encyclopaedias, JM Barrie's "Peter Pan" and Enid Blyton's "Mallory Towers" books.

As well as Enid Blyton one of my favourite authors was Malcolm Saville.
