Just (while channel hopping before bed) and seen Miriam Margoyles on Graham Norton.
She was wearing the same dress as on The Last Leg, and some other programme that I can't remember.
It's good to not waste money and also not buy stuff you don't really need, but in light of recent threads on "old person" smell, let's hope she's given it a good airing between each wear!
Ok so after reading more of this thread I will say I have not seen the GN show. I never watch it.
She does sound rather OTT.......and I can see why some people will not like that. But when I have seen her on the Real Marigold Hotel blah blah I thought she was funny and very warm to the people around her.
I personally would not want to take part in the conversations mentioned in this thread....perhaps she is sliding into a kind of brain thing where all inhibitions are lost? Maybe she just likes shocking people. An old age Punk!
Old ladies should just keep quiet about bodily functions
why?
also I like how she dresses.......I hate all the conventions of we should wear suitable clothes for other people to look at. why not be comfortable? She might dress this way when she is not in costume because it is relaxing.
somewhere on the forum i think there is a thread about Punks back in the day.....well I think we have one here in MM and good luck to her.
though I doubt i would ask a man about his foreskin on TV.....
Sorry Grannyknot of course you can sit in a corner and knit. Just as MM can fart and say so if she wants. Surely the least we should acheive as we get older is the ability to accept everyone can behave as they want to providing they do not harm others.
I can't say I agree necessarily about old people behaving badly.
It's strange, when I was very young I thought that everyone became nicer in old age but then I realised that grumpy people became more grumpy, rude people ruder and personalities in general became more concentrated.
For knitting I use Bamboo needles they are lovely and lightweight.
Farting is something my body has discovered since I became older, only really the last couple of years. I seemed to get through life rarely afflicted until one day bending down to pick up something was the loudest one. My friends in the room couldn't stop laughing. I was embarrassed. But I now I see it is part of my body getting older.
But publicly making it a big thing on national TV is incredibly childish and something a teenager would do, not a mature adult. Maybe she wants to attract young fans and thinks the way to do it is with jokes about body functions.
Umm, nice to see the conversation "widening" I was just commenting on the fact that I had seen the same dress worn multiple times on recent programmes!
Must have missed the men's hygiene/foreskin bits, probably turned over.
I think people who are known for being just a bit too quirky often feel the need to keep upping the ante as they get older. It gets embarrassing after a while. In my opinion, of course.
On his Saturday radio show Graham Norton said MM was a regular on his show but they always had to take into consideration who else would be on at the same time.
I'm surprised they can get anyone to sit on the sofa when she's on! Daniel Radcliffe must be a good sport, he was next to her. It was Will i am last time I believe.
