Vienna Blood

Just caught up with this series, a good period drama which improved over the three episodes. I enjoyed the characters, storylines, costumes & settings. Really hope they bring it back, makes a change from Scandi noir.

The second episode was really good, better than the first.
The music has been stolen from Sherlock though.?

Poor Oskar looked like he needed a cuddle. Only had his work, and now lost out on his promotion.

I thought that the policeman looked like James Nesbitt with a beard! Loved the series - really hope they make another.

Chestnut, it could be, but I'm not sure. (His nose looks a bit too fat!)
I'll have to keep a look out in future

Does anyone watching this think that the actor who played Inspector Oscar ? looks so very like another Welsh? actor.

I'm really enjoying this and very thankful that the BBC have at last managed to make a period drama that isn't too dark and depressing.....for a change! They've managed to get some gruesome corpses in (got to keep the special effects staff employed!) but the overall feel is not grim and gruesome like so many of their dramas.

Just watched the last episode with my DH who usually doesn't watch the dramas that I like. I thought it was excellent and hope that there will be a second series. So did he which surprised me.

Does anyone remember Rufus Sewell as Aurelio Zen a few years ago? The Beeb only made 3 episodes and then no more.

It's so well done! Feels very authentic. Vienna looks beautiful but the production somehow captures the whole atmosphere of the place and the time. Really looking forward to the last episode.

I am part way through the second one. It's very pleasant viewing. I specially like the young Jewish doctor who helps the detective. They make good contrasts.

Lovely detail and I especially liked the German detective, but my attention wandered from time to time, and DH soon dropped off to sleep!

A refreshing change from the usual run of the mill. Really enjoyable. I wonder if they are based on books. Like the single story longer format.

Well I'm glad I read the recommendations on this thread. I watched my recording yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a bit different. Looking forward to catching up on the next episodes.

You’re not the only one, Fiachna, I was underwhelmed too. I loved Sherlock, but found myself looking at my watch towards the end of this. DH enjoyed it so we did watch episode 2, which I thought was better (but still not great).

Not bad.
