My young adult DGDs love Strictly and we have a family sweepstake to see who picks the winner. We are all scattered around the country, DH is still in hospital so we take the mickey, have a laugh and generally enjoy ourselves via a group Facebook chat. It usually starts with DGD1, who is usually getting ready to go out, typing, 'Are you ready, Granny?' They know I'm feeling lonely and anxious but although they're both at uni with lives of their own they look upon Strictly as family fun just like we used to gather around the telly on a Saturday night in the good old days.
You have to take it with a pinch of salt.
