Actually what I have seen is QT last night it was simply a question of Bruce simply not knowing the facts, and wrongly correcting people.
She is very poor.

Are any other Gransnetters becoming frustrated with Fiona Bruce’s style of chairing the panel? She never gives each guest a fair opportunity to respond and continually pulls silly faces and sneers at her guests.

are you saying that Iabel Oakeshott should not be challenged for hiding the link between Aron Banks and Russian oligarchs- and the manipulations during the campaign? And that Boris is right in refusing to publish the report on such he was given recently by the investigative Commission?
yes not professional at all
Totally agree Chesnut, and sadly most of the political threads on Gransnet are the same.
Let's blame the BBC for being biased, the audience for being too right ring, the panelists for being too right wing and Fiona Bruce for not allowing enough left wingers to speak. In other words, let's see what we want to see and blame everyone for not putting forward the panelists that agree with ME and the views that I have!
I could not believe that Isabel Oakeshott was invited again. How many times has she been on in last 2 years??? Why?
This woman is up to her ears in the Aron Banks and Russian interference evidence Johnson is trying hard to hide and refuses to publish. The word traitor is used far too much recently- but Oakeshott has known about Russian money and interference as she worked closely with Banks- and should have come forwards and disclose. She chose to hide the evidence, for political, but even worse, financial reasons.
Gave up watching anything political on BBC. Maybe Andrew Marr rarely. BBC impartial! Don't make me laugh, it's as biased as old getout.
I caught a bit of this last night. She let the Tory go on for ages, I was shouting at the tv for her to shut him up and give someone else a chance. An when she did it wasn't the Labour bloke he had been attacking but the Lib Dem woman.
And Varian is right about who selects the biased audience.
I think you mean Jo Coburn on Politics Live BBC2 who I agree would make an excellent choice.
However, the audience needs managing. Sadly Fiona has chosen to play to the audience which seem to be in the main boorish Brexiteers.
She doesn't let panellists give their answers which is why they are there. I don't know whether someone behind the scenes is pulling the strings but the programme has sadly deteriorated and needs an overhaul top down. Not fit for purpose anymore.
I think the BBC gives so much coverage to tbe Johnsons and Rees-Moggs of this world because they are seen by the Beeb's Tristrams (as A.A Gill used to describe them) as essentially risible right-wingers. It only occurs to them too late that they are indeed creating "monsters" who appeal to a large part of their audience who do not share their views.
monster, noun meaning a thing of extraordinary or daunting size
That could in fact describe the EU.
The worrying thing varian is that you are entirely serious.
I agree that gunman is a monster, but there are more than one types of monster.
Columnist Catherine Bennett writes-
"Why does the BBC keep creating posh political monsters?"
www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/sep/23/bbc-nigel-farage-boris-johnson-jacob-rees-mogg
Nigel Farage a monster?!!! I don't think so! The gunman in New Zealand is a monster!
In the years before 2016 only two MEPs were ever allowed to appear on Question Time. One was ultra-right wing Tory Daniel Hannan (who told us absolutely no-one was talking about leaving the single market. )He appeared once. The other was Nigel Farage who appeared 29 times!!!!!!!
For most of these years only a tiny proportion of the population were concerned about EU membership, but the BBC kept promoting Farage again and again and again.
Don't talk to us about BBC bias. The Brexit Broadcasting Corporation practically created the monster that is Nigel Farage.
Why shouldn't the likes of Melanie Phillips , a perfectly respectable journalist, be on QT? Why should Nigel Forage not be on QT? As long as there is a an opposite opinion why is it a problem?
Yes, I wondered why there could be any objections? It's an "I don't like them or their views, therefore let's ignore them" left wing blinkered approach. Surely both sides of any argument have to be expressed and challenged in the name of fairness?
I agree, the liberal left wing agenda of the BBC is becoming more and more obvious. The BBC is an organisation doing its best to channel the viewing public down routes of their self-satisfied, unchallenged left wing propaganda. There is no balance.
BBC BIAS: Viewers 'TURN OFF' as Brexit talk show FAILS to invite any Leave voting MPs
"The Emma Barnett show on BBC 5Live invited Shadow Communities Secretary Andrew Gwynn, Lib Dem MP Ed Davey and Shadow International Trade Secretary Barry Gardiner on to the programme this morning - and none of the three supported Brexit. Prominent Brexiteer and journalist Tim Montgomerie took to Twitter to voice his outrage, writing: “Listening to this now. No Brexit voting MP yet AGAIN. It’s called public service broadcasting apparently.” Others soon flocked to his cause."
Fiona Bruce is brilliant. She manages both the audience and the panel with panache and humour. Geoffrey Cox's codpiece?!!!! made people laugh and defused a difficult situation. Dimbleby was excellent too, and Fiona is a worthy successor.
I have been in the Question Time audience twice. They happened to be filming in the towns where I lived on two occasions and I was invited along. I had to apply, obviously.
The form asks you to pose a question for the panelists. I think there was also a tick box to indicate which which way you'd vote in a particular situation. The people in the audience who ask the questions aren't plants. We all knew beforehand who had been successful in having their questions picked. Then the cameramen, etc, needed to know where they were sitting, as did the sound engineers.
We knew who was on the panel on the day
David Dimbleby was very nice. On both occasions he came to the room where the audience had gathered and spoke to us about what to expect. He was very genial.
I cannot understand how she can still be in post- when we all know that she is part and parcel of UKIP and the Leave Campaign.
Well spotted Jura. The QT audience producer Alison Fuller-Pedley certainly knows how to pick them.
Wasn't sure if my BP could take another QT- and especially that awful woman journalist, Julia Hartley.
But we did- and wondered who was that guy with a pink sweater who was shouting and ranting and frothing at the mouth- and why she didn't get him thrown out.
I thought he was not 'just another audience' and was right

Ken Clarke Nails Brexit
www.youtube.com/watch?v=g96iQBwFVXM
An old QT from 2016. An old one but a good one. Ken Clarke talks sense, tells it like it is (and is shouted down by an ignorant brexit supporter who cannot stand being told the truth)
trisher
I owe you an apology re your post Sat 02-Mar-19 11:59:33.
It was Varian I should have addressed.
My point remains however . Question Time has a distorted panel week in week out by having 5 panelists 3 left and 2 right of politics.
I think whom ever produces the show is doing a poor job but for the opposite reason , it is biased toward the left of politics. How that fits with the Allison Fuller Pedley charge of being some sort of right wing fanatic eludes me but I fully take on board the the point made.
Why shouldn't the likes of Melanie Phillips , a perfectly respectable journalist, be on QT? Why should Nigel Forage not be on QT? As long as there is a an opposite opinion why is it a problem?
The panel should be either 4 or 6 in number and to stop the opinion it is biased it should be of equal distribution of panelists that come from the left/right /centre of politics.
Time to rethink QT in general and I think they missed an opportunity to stop those both from the left and right of politics calling it biased against them.
Jalima well, maybe not, but it would make for an incredibly interesting debate!
Mary Beard could never remain impartial!!
I used to like Dimbleby's ties - always interesting to see what he was wearing
. He still has a nice head of hair too.
