Sounds like any number of horror/murder films. Why the victims always go into the room/down the stairs beats me - I'd be running out the door screaming my head off!

Interestingly I've just read my GD's media thesis for uni where she is questioning the portrayal of horror film victims as always being fragile feminine females. There are few films where the heroine is a strong female character where she isn't portrayed in a masculine light (Alien for instance). It was something I'd never thought of before but quite insightful now she's highlighted it.
