Masterchef 2018

I only ever watched some of the American series a couple years back, found it OTT and I cannot stand Gordon Ramsay - unfortunately it's been said he is going to be a guest judge in Aussie version this year, but at least that means a one off visit usually. One of the regular judges doesn't like him, and he's openly said that, could be interesting lol.
The Aussie version has all the contestants stay together in a large house, leaving as they get knocked out. The programme is on 5 nights a week over a couple of months - usually finishing just before Christmas over here, but on now over there. So you get to know a bit about the people besides the cooking.

I'll watch to the end but really I don't know where they'll go next as these guys come in cooking at such a high level there isn't much to aspire to. A lot of them must have been on courses to produce what they do early on in the competition. jusnoneed maybe I'll look in on the next Aussie one, I wasn't fussed with the American one.

I hate the professional kitchen section, an upmarket restaurant kitchen just does not work like that.
It makes me mad, one chef would not be preparing all of the elements of a dish, thats what prep chefs do and a lot of chefs specialise in different areas.
Greg wallace is awful, all that shouting and polishing his baldy heid.Grrrrrrrr.

I'd need to stop off at the chippy on the way home from one of those Michelin star meals!

I gave up with the British version years ago, very poor and boring.
The Aussie one is far better and much more demanding, some really skilled people by the time they get to the end. I think the fact that Heston B/Marco PW/Nigella L plus many top Aussie chefs set challenges for them says a lot about the show.

I so much prefer Masterchef Australia, which has a completely different format and I like the judges. It is on the Home channel every weekday. They are down to the last 9 contestants, who are amazing cooks!

I am enjoying Masterchef but dislike the professional kitchen section - it is too stressful. So I record it and fast forward that bit!

I get the feeling that they have in mind from Day 1 who they want to win and personalities come into it. This series there are obviously contestants who play to their strengths with their familiar foods but I think a Masterchef should be able to cook across a broad range of styles to earn the title, for that reason sodapop I agree it's probably past its sell by.

I have a problem listening to Greg Wallace as I have a really illogical dislike to the way he says “sauce” and he says it a lot.
Otherwise, like all these competitions, I get interested in the personalities of the contestants and have to watch to the end. Sad but true. ?

I was watching with one eye it’s the waste of perfectly edible food that’s just rediculous and some of those desserts you could eat in one mouthful. I don’t think I appreciate ‘posh’ grub ??

Another series well past its sell by date, so pretentious at times.
