I loved my tranny ( it meant something different then!) and took it everywhere, on picnics and outings ( couldn’t miss the Top 20) I remember being on Ilkley Moor ( bah’t ‘at) when Dylan’s Like A Rolling Stone was number 1 in the charts, and being told to ‘turn that racket down’ by a couple of old squares () sitting near us.

Radio Caroline for me in my teens. I also remember having to stand on the kitchen table to get a signal for Radio Luxembourg! Mostly Radio 4 now.

I had to listen to radio Luxembourg on my transistor under the bedcovers, my mother would call - are you listening to that Luxembourg music?, I switched off quickly so I could reply with honesty - no Mum, well I wasn't , I had switched it of ?

Midweek theatre, Saturday night theatre.

'Listen with Mother' in the afternoons, whilst my mum did the ironing. Sometimes I was allowed a small piece of apple too!

I listen Radio 4 Extra a lot and a few weeks ago caught an episode of The Men From the Ministry. It was so funny and the jokes about the political machinations at the UP is as relevant today as it was then. Rather like a 1950s Yes Minister. -they dont make 'em like that anymore

Radio Luxemburg and Radio Caroline were both fantastic .

I remember listening to Radio Luxembourg on my little transistor radio this was the only way to listen to pop music pre Radio 1.

In summer outside I would listen to a small transistor radio with ear piece

In the kitchen downstairs Mum would have radio 4 or radio 2 on.
She loved the Archers, Desert island disc, Woman's hour and the bedtime story. (I now listen to them!)
My grandparents had a radiogram.

We never had a radio in the sitting room as my father was sadly profoundly deaf and was very saddened that he was unable to listen to the radio and in particularly music.

I had my first very own transistor radio when Iwas about 16. Vividly remember taking it into the bathroom with me so I could listen to Jack De Manio whilst getting ready. After that it was Radio 1 all the way.
