're "Safe" - I don't want to dampen anyone else's enthusiasm for it, but just the first 2 episodes include: teenage drug use/drug dealing, a murder and an "ordinary family" hiding the body, a missing person, an affair, accusations of underage sex with a teacher - and I'm sure I've missed something. I mean, what's left? So I've decided it's way too far fetched for me!

My Netflix is free because my son in law is the subscriber and you can have a limited number of users able to tag on to one subscription. Very generous of Netflix think. ?

I've just completed my free month and am now happy to start paying £5.99 a month as i'm already hooked on some series (in particular Grace and Frankie) and have watched three films which were good, and this afternoon I've started
'Safe' which promises to be excellent, hopefully.
So I think it's good value.

Reviving this thread to mention a new series on Netflix.
‘Safe’ I started watching last night. It’s a murder with several twists. I’ve only got to part 4, watched while doing a pile of ironing !

We have been watching Peaky Blinders on Netflix. We only bothered after we'd read good reviews, long after the series had been shown on BBC. It's good to be able to binge watch a series every now and then when there's not much of interest on TV.

You could try Sky they have good deals for new customers, we get our phone and broadband from them, but you'd have to have a satellite dish. we had virgin but got fed up with the poor service. We keep getting bombarded with offers to return now we've switched.

We have Netflix and Amazon Prime with TV stick too. We use both and have discovered some great films and series. We really don't need Virgin any more but we do of course need broadband. Anyone know the cheapest way of having (cable) broadband in the house? I believe merely cancelling the TV part of Virgin isn't a great saving. Our home phone is via Virgin cable so setting up an overhead line for an alternative non cable broadband provider will be expensive. Cable services for just broadband are few and far between so it seems we are stuck with Virgin.

I watched A New Leaf on Netflix yesterday a Walter Matthau film - very light hearted and very funny- makes a nice relaxed interlude.

I just posted this on another thread - daughter recommended "Prisoners" on Netflix - good cast, but I havn't yet watched it. I just noticed it is 2 and a half hours long! At least with Netflix you can pause and go back to it.

I watched FOCUS last night a Will Smith film- not usually my cup of tea but this was a good plot and not too sweary.

My Big Fat Greek wedding (2) light good hearted fun.

A rainy weekend and no golf (course flooded) so we watched a fair bit of TV. My Netflix recommendations from this weekend are :-

We have just started watching HOUSE - Hugh Laurie as a diagnostician- we didn't watch it when it was on TV but we are desparate now as I am going to be confined to barracks for a few weeks after tomorrow.

I have a small notepad and pen by my chair and every weekend when the newspaper gives TV and Film recommendations I list down if I fancy any of them. I’m certainly going to add some of your suggestions on this thread to my notebook. Isn’t tv on demand wonderful ?

There is another one I have seen twice now its so good with jack Nicholson and Daine Keaton but I cant remember the name - it will come to me.

So many great series on Netflix - Breaking Bad, House of Cards, the Crown, Orange is the new Black, Top of the Lake, ....just watched Seven Seconds enjoyed that, saw a good film recently with Dustin Hoffman playing an old artist- can’t remember name something beginning with M?

Teetime, thankyou. We have just watched " Our Souls at Night", lovely. As you said gentle and a good story, and DH also enjoyed it. Any more suggestions gratefully received.

I only signed up for Netflix in about November and must say it's the best thing I've ever done. If it weren't for my DH's love of sport, we'd probably cancel our Virgin Media subscription and just have Freeview and Netflix.
It's not just the movies, but it has so many great TV series, some Netflix originals, and many that have been on mainstream TV.
I love it and can't recommend it enough!

Our DD and GC also use our password and watch their favourite programmes, Sshhhh.......

As I understand it, some subscriptions allow several devices. My DS kindly allowed me 'one device' on his subscription, so I get Netflix for free even when overseas.

I have Netflix and love it. i think the key to it is that it has a lot of films etc you may not have heard of but as its a one off price (mine is £7) you can start things and if you don't like them don't continue to watch you haven't lost anything. I have found some really good films. the one I watched at the weekend was Robert Redford and Jane Fonda as they are now in their later years in the Our Souls at Night- it was lovely, gentle and a good story. I have tried many things and been pleasantly surprised.

Thanks All for the info. The £9.99 sub is for Ultra HD on lots of devices, as I don’t have Ultra I will follow you and pay £7.99 when I finally sign up.

Our Netflix subscription is £7.99 per month to watch in HD on two devices. We have it on TV and on my tablet. I have been watching Zumbo's just desserts, it's an Australian TV series rather like Bake Off. I've also had a trip down memory lane, and been watching Star Trek the original series. I too have Amazon Prime but think I like Netflix better.

I’m watching Peaky Blinders on Netflix as I missed it before.
