Or a risqué fancy dress party!

“Trixie and the Vicar” ! Sounds like the title of a book!

SparklyGrandma Wed 14-Mar-18 11:39:46

I agree Grannyben the series goes from strength to strength, but this one has felt like going through the emotional wringer!

SueDonim Tue 13-Mar-18 13:34:44

This has been quite a series. They've tackled some serious issues along the way. I've used a whole box of Kleenex over the last two episodes, I think!

I wasn't sure if the father this week was Mr Collins from P&P, thanks for the confirmation.

Blinko Tue 13-Mar-18 12:55:26

Trixie and the vicar are an item in RL, of course...

Grannyben Mon 12-Mar-18 21:27:36

I must say I'm quite relieved the series has come to an end. All this crying has left me feeling shattered and its going to take me until December to pull myself together (fingers crossed that Trixie finds happiness with the vicar)

SparklyGrandma Mon 12-Mar-18 17:53:23

Loved this series and cried during at least 5 of them. Poor vicar.

Anniebach Mon 12-Mar-18 17:44:25

niggly, my thoughts too went to my reaction when JFK was shot. I hope for joy Phyllis and the police officer , the tenderness between the two men was lovely to see and hear

nigglynellie Mon 12-Mar-18 17:04:13

Have just finished watching. More tears for Barbara, for the very young unmarried mother, the two chaps. Hope for Nurse Crane and the Police Sergeant!! ( her bad back recovered quickly!!) Loved the film show, in fact loved the whole thing!!!
Curiously, perhaps, my reaction to the news of the death of President Kennedy was exactly the same as it was fifty years ago, - ' Oh my god, NO'! Not sure that the present president would evoke such shocked emotion!!!!

Jalima1108 Mon 12-Mar-18 12:38:11

Yes, I noticed him Blinko smile

He's been in quite a few other things too.

Lindylo Mon 12-Mar-18 10:40:13

A wonderful programme that I will miss. Can't wait until Christmas.
The acting is wonderfully understated and it's emotional without being too gushy. May it long continue.

Blinko Mon 12-Mar-18 10:17:42

I thought last night's episode found just the right balance of sadness and hope.

Did anyone else notice the chap who played the unctuous Mr Collins in the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice played the Dad who was in a relationship with his neighbour?

I'm looking forward to the Christmas special.

Smithy Mon 12-Mar-18 09:16:22

I cried off and on all the way through, for Barbara, for the young unmarried mother as then called, and for the vicar. Couldn't stop by the end but love watching it.

harrigran Mon 12-Mar-18 08:46:21

I love watching it because it reminds me of all the things I did as a nurse and especially last night testing the wees with test tube and bunsen burner.

kittylester Mon 12-Mar-18 06:10:55

And me seacliff!!

I loved it!

seacliff Mon 12-Mar-18 05:58:39

It made me smile when they said we can expect the Christmas special in 9 months time ...quite appropriate I thought smile

chelseababy Mon 12-Mar-18 05:19:46

And there's to be a Christmas special.

Shirleyw Mon 12-Mar-18 03:33:48

Yes, I think they are signed up for another 2 .

Just hope sergeant and nurse Crane are 'involved ' next series lol....thoroughly enjoyed this series,

Eloethan Mon 12-Mar-18 00:51:59

Sister Monica Joan's statement re living on in the memnories of others doesn't bear too much examination because there comes a time when there will be nobody alive to remember you.

Alexa Mon 12-Mar-18 00:05:07

I didn't agree with Monica Joan's final platitude about our dead surviving as memories. There isn't any simple escape from bereavement and loss.

The doctor's wife had the better idea when she said that life must go on regardless.

Jalima1108 Sun 11-Mar-18 22:54:43

Oh dear Marmight, I hope things improve tomorrow

Jalima1108 Sun 11-Mar-18 22:53:22

It was a mixture of pathos and humour Bellanonna and worth watching on catch-up if you can

Bellanonna Sun 11-Mar-18 22:45:14

I wimped out of it. I knew it would be the funeral, so very sad, and I just got on with my book. Is there to be another series?
