I will expect DH to tell me tomorrow morning that the days will now be getting longer and that spring will soon be here. He's predictable but reassuring
I too struggle with dark days of winter. From tomorrow I have nightly ritual of checking the time that the lamp post opposite lights up. As Paddyann says purely psychological but even a few seconds helps.
its psycological Annie its a comfort to us who have SAD ,to know that the nights will get shorter within weeks.I count it down every year as does my Mum in law .Even a few seconds is a sign its moving in the right direction
Thanks paddyann; I'd forgotten about Thea Gilmore. Saw her in a Sandy Denny tribute show a few years ago and really liked her, but she then she slipped out of my mind. I must check out more of her music.
Tonight Santa Claus, or Grandfather Yule as my grandchildren call him, comes. DD is having a small party to celebrate Yule with some close friends. Tomorrow DH and I are going to tea, and see the DGC open their gifts. They have a Yule log, with candles and their home is full of fairy lights and greenery. It's a lovely festival.
May the log burn, May the wheel turn, May evil spurn, May the Sun return.
Yes 21st. Burning the clocks in Brighton with a huge bonfire on the beach and fireworks. All the local children make paper lanterns of amazing shapes and sizes and they all get burned on the fire to welcome the return of the sun.
