Woman's Hour Sex

Well this certainly made me look

TBH I am more worried about the items on the news all day and early evening: dead bodies, children weeping and wounded etc. truly grim and very hard to explain to children - I cannot explain it to myself.

Add in accusations of sexual harassment, transgender issues, rape etc.

I don't want my little GC listening to all this.

I haven't listened to Women's Hour for many years now. For some reason husband likes it (?)
I wouldn't be surprised if BBC Radio is finding it hard to keep going these days, with all the competition from other media, including social media.
My favourite channels are LBC and BBC4 extra.

It does seem to have more on sex and whether we get enough - or of good enough quality. More too on hard-done-by women who think they’ve miss out or not achieved all they deserve due to being female. It’s become very negative I think, and I often turn it off. Sorry Ms Murray.

I stopped listening to WH some time ago. I don't know whether to be shocked or impressed. It's obviously changed. I shall have to listen!!

I too no longer listen to WH, it no longer holds my attention and it certainly isn't for younger ears.

Interesting how many people don't listen any more. I know a lot of men listen Fennel, I worry about the ones driving HGV on the motorway and getting a shock !

Yes, I'm afraid I stopped listening a few years ago. As previous posters have said it's become very negative... to hear the various contributors you would think a woman's lot is misery piled on misery. Okay.... there are subjects such as FGM that I didn't know much about ( and was horrified by) but I really don't need to be beaten round the head by it on what seems to be endless occasions .

I still enjoy some of the discussions on Women's Hour but, the focus on active and happy sex lives amongst older people, whilst interesting, totally missed the many older people for whom sex isn't either active or happy. It would be a brave presenter who addressed the reality for many older people, rather than giving the (false) impression that the majority of people are enjoying easy, satisfying sex. Additionally, that many older (and younger) people live in happy relationships where sex isn't the main focus but intimacy is.

I like woman’s hour and they did have a series recently on sex in long
term relationships which talked about older people and those who didn’t enjoy sex etc so not all about great sex lives. They do give a warning beforehand if there is going to be explicit discusssion so you can switch off. You don’t have to listen, there’s loads of other stations. There was a good piece today about talking to children about sex. I agree news about terrorist attacks, war and crime far more frightening.

Also there was a great piece today about premature babies and crochet octopuses which was lovely - not all negative!
