Sadly is in a coma with major organ failure.sad
He has had an ongoing battle with dementia.

My first crush.
His posters along Donny Osmond's adorned my bedroom walls.
'Could it be forever?' played over and over on my Stereo.

He was always a bit too clean cut for my 7ish year old self.
He looked very handsome the last time I saw him, which was about 5 years ago, on tv. Shame, poor guy.

Sad news, and too young. I always preferred T Rex and Queen but no-one can deny DC was gorgeous. I read somewhere that Shirley Jones, who played his mother, was his stepmother in real life. Didn’t know about Rodney Bewes until I saw this thread. Another sad loss.

Sadly, it couldn`t be forever, RIP

My first true love... I remember secretly passing Partridge Family magazines between my friends during school assembly... he was THE most beautiful man whose great musical talent was overshadowed by the hysteria. Saw him in Blood Brothers on Broadway in New York, and again when it travelled here to Oxford - he was fantastic! Wish he’d been able to do more acting. His later concert tours were still good but his eyes looked sad. Will be playing his records and having a few quiet tears today.

Very sad and Rodney Bewes too. I loved the Partridge Family and the Likely Lads back in the day - quite shocked to hear James Bolan and Rodney Bewes fell out and hadn't spoken for over 40 years!

I would have thought a liver transplant was out of the question at his age.
It sounds like Hepato- Renal Syndrome where the kidneys pack up because a cirrhotic liver is not allowing a sufficient flow of blood to provide renal function.
Yes, a liver transplant is the only solution but he may well be too ill and I would have thought he was too old.

It hardly seems any time since he was a heart throb, not mine, I think I favoured the Italian American in the early '70 apropos of Godfather 1 and 2, it was Al Pacino and Robert de Niro for me back then. David Cassidy is quite young to have dementia and very sad to read he now has organ failure too.

Had to laugh at your last paragraph about the drink and drugs with Alice Cooper Vampirequeen, AC being an example of how not to overdo the eye make up. I believe Alice got into golf a while back, so I ask myself how wild could he have been shock going from the sublime to the ridiculous. My husband plays golf, but never wearing eye liner and mascara, well not that I know of anyway grin

vampirequeen Sun 19-Nov-17 16:30:38

I loved him and Donny equally.

The PR people did a great job making him look like a fresh faced, all-American boy. In real life he was best mates with Alice Cooper and they could get really wild with drink, drugs and sex (with women not each other) grin

humptydumpty Sun 19-Nov-17 12:17:10

He's now concious so that's a hopeful sign - but apparently has kidney problems and needs a liver transplant sad

I saw him on stage in Blood Brothers. He was excellent.

KatyK Sun 19-Nov-17 10:33:59

He was gorgeous back in the day. I believe he has/had a major problem with alcohol.

Pittcity Sun 19-Nov-17 09:00:49

He was on my bedroom wall too. My best friend preferred the Osmonds. No contest in my eyes. sad

Bellasnana Sun 19-Nov-17 07:30:41

So sad to read this yesterday. I was another who had his posters adorning my room. Also, went to see him in concert at Manchester City football ground. You could barely hear him singing over the sound of screaming from hysterical fans.

Very, very sorry his life took a downward turn and hope he will be remembered for the joy he brought to so many rather than the demons he has been fighting recently sad

paddyann Sun 19-Nov-17 00:43:19

I think he's had a difficult few years ,I saw him on a daytime programme and he refused to answer questions as he said they might affect his divorce,I think he declared bankruptcy to avoid a divorce settlement too.Sad ,he had so much more than most of us in opportuities and wealth...

MawBroon Sat 18-Nov-17 23:48:51

Nooooooooo! sad

Cherrytree59 Sat 18-Nov-17 23:26:41

Yes one of my favourite programmes.
I think the mum was played by Shirley Jones

Marydoll Sat 18-Nov-17 23:22:36

I used to love watching The Partridge Family. What a sad end to his life.
